Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

This was wonderful! I did take advice from others and poured sauce over apples prior to doing lattice crust. I then glazed the top with some of the sauce I reserved. I do think that this requires more flour than the recipe calls for. It says to add flour to make a paste. I added probably twice as much flour and never got a paste consistency but was too scared to add anymore flour as I was already going way over what the recipe said. Pie might be runny if you don't use enough flour. Mine came out perfect so I think I may need to fine tune just how much flour is required. The other must is the cinnamon and nutmeg flavors need to be in that sauce, adding them made the pie above and beyond basic. I also took advice and added real vanilla, omitting some water to compensate. Wow, this was great! Everyone in my family was impressed at how delicious it was.

Garden Pasta Salad

This is a good basic recipe. I did Good Season's Itialian dressing where you mix oil, vinegar, water and the italian season packet. I put in sugar snap peas and frozen thawed peas. Also, and this is a MUST, add fresh dill, fresh flat leaf parsley and 1-2 fresh basil leaves. If you grow your own this works great! I also added garlic salt, lots of fresh ground pepper and lemon juice (gives it a little zing). I am asked to make this all the time for pot lucks or family gatherings. If you are feeling especially generous add small fresh mozzarella balls.....people go nuts for them! Hope this helps! :)

Lemon Poppy Seed Dessert Cake

This cake was a HUGE hit with my family....I made it last year for Easter and they have demanded I make it again. I made this into a layer cake putting the lemon pie filling in between the two round cakes then cool whip mix on top. I garnished the top with lemon wedges and blackberries....was so pretty and springy!
