Apple Crisp II
OK, so I will preface my rating with some history: My brother-in-law is the considered the apple crisp critic of the family and my mother bakes prize-winning apple pie. I have experimented over the years with apple crisp and decided to give this one a try this weekend. It was hands down, the best apple crisp we (he) has ever had. My mother always told me to mix your apples when baking pie/crisp, so I used Northern Spy and Macintosh mixture and cut the water in half as some recommended. I also added a dash of nutmeg and doubled the topping amount. I baked it in a deep dish square pan and had a little left over for a smaller single portion (for the neighbours). The mixture game some apples a mushier texture (Macs) and a few firmer pieces that melted in your mouth with the vanilla ice cream. It was served warm, but I am looking forward to some cold left-overs to see if the reviews hold out. In my opinion, this recipe kicked apple pie butt! :)

World's Best Pasta Sauce!
So I read about 10 reviews down and decided to modify the recipe as such: added the lemon/pepper spice to the cooking chicken cubes as well as some Mrs. Dash. Used cream of mushroom soup and threw some frozen peas on the bottom of the casserole (didn't cook them first). I actually used shredded asiago cheese for a little extra sharpness. Instead of sour cream as some people recommended, I used the Phili cooking sauce (garlic and herb). Used fresh broccoli and steamed it to al dente stage. For the topping, I used the butter and italian herb bread crumbs and some of the left over asiago cheese. YUMMY! My husband wasn't as fussy on it as he is not a 'cream' guy - he would rather have spaghetti sauce 5 days/week! I LOVED it. Just enough zip to make it tasty and very simple.

Chicken Wild Rice Soup I
OMG - my sister-in-law cooked this on the weekend and out of 4 adults, all 4 loved it. I had a second's been added to my recipe file as a keeper. She said she ad-libbed some on the cream ingredient but I would have to let her comment on that.
