Red Skinned Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2011
This is a great recipe! I stuck more or less to the original recipe aside from the following changes: I used 2 stalks of celery for more crunch, about a third a pound of bacon (more would be nice but I think this was better to cut back on fat and still taste good), added 4 radishes finely chopped and some fresh dill. I also roasted the potatoes in the oven with EVOO and rosemary rather than boiling which makes an incredible flavour in this salad. My only complaint is the 2 cups of mayonnaise - that's WAY too much! Luckily I started with 1 cup so my salad wasn't ruined but I think I'll try 3/4 cup next time since this is still an awful lot of mayo. Aside from this change the recipe is just great - thanks for sharing Donna!

All-Bran's Best Bran Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2010
The muffins were tastless - their colour (as you can see from the pictures) was unappealing and the texture was much too firm and upleasant (I was careful not to overmix). I have tried many wonderful muffin recipes from this site - don't waste your time and money with this one!

Crackle Top Molasses Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2010
Look no further - these are the perfect cookies. I have made them countless times now and everyone loves them. The flavour is wonderful and they have a nice soft, chewy texture. They are very kid friendly - my daughter loves to roll them in the sugar before placing them on the cookie sheet. Don't hesitate to try these - you'll be glad you did!

Juicy Peach Crisp

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2010
When I first found this recipe I did not care for the pictures - the topping looks unattractive. I decided to try it anyways...I should have stuck with my gut and not made this recipe. The topping tasted very bland. The only reason why this recipe could be described as "juicy" is due to the peaches.

Sweet Lime Iced Tea

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2010
What a wonderful iced tea! I made it with the amounts listed in the recipe and found it to be spot on. Of course you could put more or less sugar depending on your taste. I really enjoyed the fresh lime flavour. I should mention that in order to add the sugar I did boil it with one cup of water on the stovetop and then added to the tea in order for the sugar to dissolve properly. I will be making this one again and again! Thanks for the great recipe.

Blackberry Pie I

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2010
Wonderful pie recipe! I served this to my guests..none of whom particularly like blackberries and they raved about it! I did take the suggestions of previous posters and brushed some egg on the bottom crust. I also squeezed some lemon juice and even grated a little zest ontop of the blackberries - this made a nice difference. The one mistake I did make was to not mix the berries enough with the sugar/flour mixture and it did come out slightly pasty in the filling. This however was my fault so it did not compromise my 5 star rating. Also, I cheated and used a refrigerated prepared pie crust. This was so great - I can't wait to try it again!

MMMMM... Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2010
Really enjoyed making this recipe with my daughter. The taste is wonderful...very chocolately as a result of the chocolate chips. The texture is more cake-like and not as dense and moist as I would expect from a brownie hence the 4 stars. We will definitely make this one again!

Apple Toast

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2010
This recipe was a hit with my family. I did take the suggestions to add a touch of brown sugar to the bread before adding the apples but I think it would have been fine without it since I used raisin cinnamon bread which was sweet enough!
