Sarah's Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2013
We loved this recipe. The only thing I did different was added almond slivers the last few minutes. Could have used some salt, but I needed a mild side to go with the Spicy Lime Grilled Shrimp recipe from this sight and it paired really well. This was easy enough that I'll make it again.

Spicy Lime Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2013
Everyone at the dinner table loved this shrimp dish. I cut the Cajan spice to 1 TB like everyone suggested and we all loved the flavor. Other then that I didn't change a thing.

Southern Green Beans

Great flavors. I followed the ingredients exactly but I did have to add more broth as others said, and I kept 1/2 of the bacon for garnish. Served this dish with Sylvia's Ribs recipe and they were great together.

Sylvia's Ribs

Best homemade sauce so far. I followed the recipe to the letter and I wouldn't change a thing. I used country style ribs and can't wait to try the sauce on chicken.

This was fun to make and delicious, and I didn't change a thing! I glazed it with the Simple Orange Glaze recipe and it was perfect. I look forward to making this again.

German Coleslaw

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2011
This was an easy and very tasty recipe. I used half red and half green cabbage for looks and added one shredded carrot. I packed the brown sugar and used just what the recipe called for and it was great. I served this with pulled elk sandwiches and everyone added it as a topper and it was a hit. I will absolutely make this again.

Mom's Shredded Elk Sandwiches

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2011
My sister and I do what we call "guina pig night" where once a week we take turns cooking a meal that has to be a recipe we haven't tried or a different version of an old faithful. My husband just got his elk and it was my turn so I found this recipe. I followed it to the letter and got scored 10 (we rate 1-10) all around! I didn't have to add anything including water and there was enough sauce to put in a bowl and we could add extra on the bun if we chose. This was the easiest recipe I've ever made and it will get made again and again. Not that this isn't long enough, but I also fixed the Mom's German Cole Slaw I found on this sight and we added it to our sandwiches and it was a perfect topper and a huge hit!

Mongolian Beef and Spring Onions

This recipe was actually fun to make. I used round steak (couldn't find flank) and the meat turned out perfect. I added fresh snow peas, water chestnuts and 1 TB hoisin sauce. My family loved it!

Foolproof Rib Roast

Absolutely perfect exactly as instructed. Hardest part was keeping hubby from opening the door. The crust was heaven. Served on New Years Eve with garlic mashed potatoes. Will make again...when I can afford the meat.

Cowpoke Beans

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
Absolutely loved these beans. I mixed this recipe up with another I had out and started the beans in chicken stalk which was surprisingly a great idea, and I didn't have marjoram so I substituted oregano. I intend to make it again and have the right spice on hand just to see the difference, but my husband loved these beans!
