About this Cook
I am 56 years old. Married with 2 grown children. We are looking after my elderly parents. I work 8 to 5 Monday thru Friday and try and cook for my parents on the weekends.
My favorite things to cook
I tried a new ham and potato receipe last Friday night and my family about went nuts over it. They loved it. It was awesome. I got the receipe from this site, so I was quite impressed with the results.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Can't think of anything special that we do, we just like to eat good food.
My cooking triumphs
Most of the receipes I have tried from this site have been really good. I read all the comments and add the notes to my receipe cards.
My cooking tragedies
I know I have tried new receipes in the past and we were unable to eat them, so I had to throw them out, I just can't remember what it was right this minute.

Ham Bone Soup
Our family is trying to go vegetarian but occassionaly I see an easy receipe and I can't resist. I sauted the onion in fresh garlic along with all the other veggies, potatoes, green beans, 3 carrots, and green pepper. I did not have kidney beans but I did have black eyes peas. Also threw in a bay leaf. This was really, really good except for the fact that the ham bone added more fat than we are used to. Next time I make this I am going to try and find a dry ham flavoring of some type to use instead of the greasy ham bone. I did try and spoon some of the grease off the top.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup
I followed the receipe to the T. It was awesome, best I had ever had. My family raved about this, especially my dad. I will definetly make this again real soon.
