I'm only 17 so I don't really cook that much. Just the basics. Mac and cheese, spaghetti, lasagna, cookies, and pie are the most common things I make. For my age, I am pretty good at cooking though. Everyone loves my pie.

I set up a romantic dinner for my boyfriend and cooked him chicken and asparagus with melted gruyere and mashed potatoes. He loved it and I was so proud because it's more complicated than I'm used to.

Chocolate Cookie Mix in a Jar
This was a delicious recipe, a big hit with the people I gifted it to. The recipe calls for a 1 quart wide mouth canning jar, but I didn't use that. When I went to buy them, they were out so I bought 4 pint sized jars instead. In one jar I put the combined flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and white sugar. I had to pack it down good to make it all fit. In the next jar I put the combined brown sugar and cocoa. This also helps the brown sugar to stop from hardening. Then I put the pecans in one jar and the chocolate chips in the last jar. They weren't all filled like the flour jar, but it still looked nice. I arranged the four in a basket with a tag sticking off each saying what was in them, and a card in the middle with the directions. Then I took wrapping paper and wrapped it around the basket and twisted it at the top, then tied it with a bow. It looked very nice, and it was much easier than trying to pack everything into one jar. People even said the presentation was much nicer than just receiving one jar of it.

Fruit Dip
I brought this to Thanksgiving to have a lighter appetizer before the heavy meal, and everyone loved it. Even my little cousins who refused to eat anything that night ate this fluffy dip. I added the maraschino cherry juice to give it more of a pink color instead of white. I would suggest using your electric mixer, also. I gave this recipe to my friend and she tried to mix it all with just a spoon, and hers came out more chunky. Mine was very smooth using the electric mixer. This is a great recipe, and very delicious.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies
These cookies were great! Everybody LOVED them. I followed the recipe exactly, except I made the balls slightly larger to get bigger cookies. I have some really picky people in my family, but they ate multiple cookies and said they were great.
