About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Everything and anything. I like finding great, unique meals at restaurants, then trying to re-create them at home. I'm working on perfecting a few that I hope to add to this site soon!
My cooking triumphs
When my 2 sons were babies, I made all of their baby food. They each had maybe 2 or 3 jars of gerber jarred food their entire lives. It was all fresh, homemade food! To this day, I haven't cooked anything that has given me that level of pride and satisfaction.
My cooking tragedies
I'm not one to cook desserts (or eat them). A few years back, I decided to give it a shot so I could take something to a family Thanksgiving dinner. I went right for a tough one and chose to make swirled cheesecake with homemade cookie crust. I spent hours and hours working on making my first cheesecake (or any dessert) attempt perfect. It came out just like the picture on the recipe. It was perfect to the point that I was compelled to take pictures of it. When putting it into the fridge for the night, I bumped a stack of plastic food containers and knocked 2 of them into the cheesecake making very large dents in the swirled top of my cheesecake. It still tasted great and I at least have a picture, but I was more than a little upset.

Creamy Kohlrabi Soup
Very good! I took the advice on another reviewer and sprinkled cheddar cheese on top. Souper Soup!

Beef and Cabbage Stew
Excellent stew! I make this in the crock pot. Just brown the meat, put it in the crock pot and cover with the rest of the ingredients. Cook on low all day and it comes out great! Another great excuse to eat cabbage. Great as-is, but I've also added corn, peas, cauliflower, etc.

Cabbage Burgers
Excellent! They give the impression that they are difficult to make but they are very easy and quick. They also reheat very well. Great excuse to eat more cabbage!
