Well, my five yr old grandson in staying till
Sunday evening. So far, on day one, we have had lunch, walked in the woods, gone to park and played on gym play equipment, caught little perch at the pond using hot dogs for bait, fed bread to the geese. Then discovered that the Jack Russell
I love to cook and bake. I regularly grill and cook for the "crew" of friends. My husband's work requires that we relocate about every 6 months so we live in our RV with two( oops, now three !)dogs that own us and one odd parakeet.Cooking in an RV for 15-30 people enabled me to become quite the expert on the outdoor grill, but I'm still struggling with the smoker that I JUST HAD TO HAVE lol.
My favorite things to cook
My favs change each day !! Just depends on my mood at the time.Sometimes I'm really into party foods and tailgate specialties;then I will be all about baking from scratch, giving away cakes and breads with "one slice missing"( I have to sample, right?).
My favorite family cooking traditions
Probably not really a tradition just that I always make all the holiday meals from starters to desserts..jus' cause by the time everyone wants this and that and puts in thier request I'm doing the whole meal!! And since I'm a "southern" cook and my hubby is 'yankee" it always means two different stuffings and multiple "must-have" sides!
My cooking triumphs
I dunno if it's a triumph but I make the best meatloaf and steaks that rival any fancy steakhouse !! One year I was on my cheesecake kick and made several flavors each day for about 3 months!I baked the cookies from scratch to grind into crumb crusts(never graham!).My hubby bought a second commercial fridge just for all the cheesecakes "setting up"!
My cooking tragedies
Altho I have watched and noted ALL the secrets to perfect pie doughs I cannot make a pie crust!I once went thru 20 pounds of flour determined to succeed....now I just buy Pillsbury ReadyCrusts !!
