Best Chocolate Chip Cookies
Followed recipe exactly.
Cookies puffed and looked good at ten minutes, but then fell drastically once removed from the oven. Basically crepe-thin, with chocolate chips sticking up.
I used brand new baking soda, measured flour perfectly (aerated, scooped in lightly, leveled with knife), triple checked oven temperature (even have a separate in oven thermometer), softened butter but still firm, and both cooked them on my normal baking sheets and also tried my air bake ones. Tried silpat and parchment paper. Same results each time.
They taste great (a little too sweet for my tastes, but perfect for my husband's), but the fact that they are basically crepe-thin ruined it for us.
No idea what went wrong.
Added some baking powder to the rest of the batch, chilled the dough, and they STILL collapsed, UGH :(
