Just your average food snob getting snobbier. It may eventually reach the point where I won't want to eat out at all because I could make it cheaper/better at home.
My favorite things to cook
I like very basic, solid recipes that take well to embellishments like a basic scone, a basic bread, a basic meat pie. People always love baked goods and give back "chef love" when you do it. But I'm happiest seeing what I have in the house at any given time and making something good to amazing with it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Moms Penn Dutch potato stuffing. Pretty much the only thing other than stews that my mother made that was amazingly good. (Irish cooks tend to cook things until they fall apart or turn up at the ends.)
My cooking triumphs
My first cheesecake that didn't crack.
My cooking tragedies
Mixing up the mint extract with the vanilla. Those cookies looked fabulously good but tasted like toothpaste.
