Chicken Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2011
I followed this recipe exact and I was not impressed at all. The idea of it is good but overall was WAY too bland and I'm not a heavy salt person as it is. It needed more flavor..I probably would double the whole soy mixture if I would make it again. Sorry..I wanted to like it.

Chinese Chicken Fried Rice II

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2010
I would give it five stars after some of the tweaking I did but the recipe itself was a bit bland. I used brown rice, added a half a bag of thawed mixed veggies and about a teaspoon of sesame oil. My dish needed way more than the amount of soy sauce indicated on here but that's a taste preference. I also agree with others that you could use less pepper too. I will make this again for sure though!

Pasta Primavera with Italian Turkey Sausage

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2010
I was really happy with the flavors in this dish. I usuall modify most recipes on here but didn't at all with this one. I didn't have enough fresh basil for what the recipe calls for and could have probably used a bit more of that but otherwise I loved the lighness of the dish with that spicy bite with the meat. It will be a new "go-to" pasta dish for us!

Slow-Cooker Corned Beef and Cabbage

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2010
This was good but I have to say that I don't like the beer flavor in there because the veggies soaked up too much of that flavor and gave it a bit of a funny taste. Next time I would use a similar recipe that doesn't call for beer (or maybe as much beer).

Tater Tot Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2010
I'm from MN-the land of hotdish casseroles. This is exactly how I remember the church lady's Tater Tot Casserole..this recipe is now a keeper at our house. Last time I added corn to get some veggies in there for the kiddo and used the smaller tater tot "bites" or something like that which made the tater tot part a lot crispier.

Cajun Chicken and Sausage Gumbo

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2010
The roux was not difficult to make as long as you take your time, keep it on lower heat and stir constantly. It was fantastic!

White Chocolate, Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2009
AWESOME cookies! My husband just LOVED these because they are like a brownie but a cookie so you get the best of both worlds! Very hard to mess up. I followed a previous review and did 1 tsp of baking powder and 1tsp of baking soda and they turned out perfect, chewy and crispy on the edges. I also refrigerated most and baked those for about 11 min give or take. I bet you could freeze balls of dough and bake for about 15-17 minutes too.

Marie's Easy Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2009
I was looking for a Pot Roast recipe as close to my Mom's as I could and this one is basically identical to what I wanted. I modified it a bit and put some beef base, worcestershire sauce and about a 1/4 cup of red wine in the 1 cup of water that gets poured in. I also added garlic and some garlic and onion powder for more flavor. Those probably weren't neccesary but it was more to taste and to have a heart gravy. After the cooking time I made gravy out of the juices on the stovetop adding a bit of red wine again and then corn starch to thicken over heat and was excellent as well! Such an easy, tasty and economical meal for the family!! I highly recommend this one!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2009
I followed the recipe exactly and even some of the modifications for letting the eggs and butter get to room temp first. While the cookies taste really good they ended up being really cakey in texture and hardly flattened out when baking. I figured I would try something different but won't make this recipe again.

Caramel Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2009
I made this last night and was excellent! I used honeycrisp apples since I already had those. I also used a sweet onion and caramelized it in the butter before adding the rest of the sauce ingredients which makes it a really nice savory/sweet addition. I wouldn't make this without the onions because I feel it really makes the recipe unless onions aren't your favorite. I ended up doubling the sauce once I had everything in there because I felt it needed more than the recipe called for..very easy to double and tweek the sauce to your liking. Overall VERY simple, VERY tasty.
