Apple Crumb Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2013
This recipe is so delicious, and definitely one of the best apple pie's I tried. I did double the crumb topping as others have done. I found it just wasn't enough for me, I like my pie to be totally covered with crumbs. the only issue I did have (and maybe I should give it 4 stars for this) is it was a little to watery. I made the pie on an evening, and didn't cut into it until the next day afternoon, and still found it to be runny. So it did have plenty of time to cool off. But with that being said the taste was still out of this world. I think next time, I will try to use a little more flour in the pie mix to solve the problem.

Japanese Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2012
This receipe is fantastic. The whole family loved it. The kids even asked me to make it again for them. I think the next time I make it I am going to use cut up chicken breast instead of wings. Will definatley make again. The only substitue I did was use low sodium soy, instead of regular soy.

Sweet and Gooey Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2010
I can't take credit for this as my friend told me about this recipe on this site, and the chicken wings are outstanding. However, I made a few adjustments. First instead of using a 1/2 a cup of soy sauce that the recipe calls for (which is too saltly), I used 1/4 cup of low sodium soy sauce. I also used 1/2 a cup of brown sugar instead of the 1/4 cup of brown that the recipe calls for. In addition to the recipe I added 1 big squirt of Heinz ketchup to the mix (about a 2 sec. squirt). The wings are great. No need to marinate for 4hrs unless you want to. I've marinated for as little as 1 1/2 hours and it was perfect. Definitely will make again, great for appetizers, superbowl parties, etc.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew III

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2009
This is an awesome base recipe for beef stew. I wouldn't suggest making it with just the ingredients listed in this recipe alone; cause it really didn't have that old fashioned grandma beef stew taste. Instead of using 1 can of Golden Onion Soup, I used about 1 3/4 cans (of the small cans). Instead of using water I used beef broth made from beef bullion cubes. Instead of using regular Onion Soup Mix I used the Golden Onion soup mix. I also added some worcestershire sauce (not sure of the amount just poured some in), adobo (not sure of amount just sprinkled some in). I also added a package of McCormicks Beef Stew seasoning, which I think that is what the stew need to give it the flavor I was looking for. I also added more pepper. I didn't cook the stew overnight, I cooked it on high for about 6 hours and the stew came out fantastic. Like others I added some corn starch at the end to thicken up the sauce alittle bit as well. Both my husband and I loved it. I served with some biscuits on the side. OMG to die for... We are having left overs tonight. Definitely will make it again, and again.

Play Dough Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2009
These cookies really look cute. I made them in Orange and Black for Halloween, and gave them out at the Children's Halloween party as favors instead of giving them goodie bags. I new they were going to get alot more candy by Trick or Treating. It is very time consuming, and really no flavor to the cookie. My husband and daughter really didn't like them except for the way they looked. I am going to rate this with three stars for appearance. Maybe a more traditional sugar cookie recipe would go better with this type of cookie if your looking for flavor. I even tried adding more sugar and vanilla extract to make it sweeter, but I guess it didn't work.

Slow-Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
Like everyone else I changed the sauce. I didn't want the sauce to come out tasting to much like ketchup. Therefore, instead of using two cups of ketchup; I used 1 cup ketchup to 1 cup BBQ sauce. Everything else I kept the same. The sauce came out great, didn't like my selection of ribs. I couldn't find baby back ribs so I used Country Style ribs which I thought was to fatty for me. Would I use again...probably cause it was fast and easy to make. I also placed the ribs in the oven after cooking in the crock pot to caramelize the sauce to the meat. I do have another recipe for BBQ ribs that takes alot more prep time, but the ribs are fantastic.

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
Great Oatmeal cookies. I baked them yesterday and so far they are still soft and chewy. Great tasting. I made two batches, one with raisins and one without. Both are good, but I prefer the raisins. I as well didn't push them down with a fork before going in the oven, I just kept them in a ball and they still melted down kinda thin. My only con to the cookie is that it didn't stay plump. I will definitely bake them again, and would set out for company.

Chicken Breasts with Balsamic Vinegar and Garlic

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2009
I didn't flour the chicken like most people said. Instead, at the end I thickened up the sauce with corn starch. I had no bay leaves so I omitted that as well. However, I didn't think this was an amazing recipe. I thought it was just ok. Not something I would prepare if company was coming over. On the other hand my husband loved it, and said he would definately eat it again. I guess to each his own....

Pork Chops in Beer

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2009
This is a quick and easy recipe. I've made it a couple of time already for diner, if I'm undecided on what to make. It does tastes good, but I wouldn't serve it if I had guests over my house.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2009
This meal was excellent. Definately will make it again. As well as others I too have seared the meat on all sides before placing in the crock pot. I also substituted beef broth for the water, and added some more chopped up onions in the pot. Overall came out great, meat was so tender it just was falling apart. Didn't need to use a knife at all.
