I've cooked most of my adult life, but always saw it as a chore and something that needed to be done. Therefore, I ate out a lot and ended up as big as a house! I've lost over 100# after lap band surgery four years ago and now eat very small portions. I developed a passion for cooking because when you can't eat much, you want to make the most of what you can eat. This site helped me as I looked for ways to make food... fun, tasty and healthy. Now I have two passions in my life... my motorcycle and my kitchen! And folks... when I'm ready to cook, look out! I let the flour fly!
My favorite things to cook
I've started looking for even more ways to make dishes lower in carbs and calories but higher in protein. As a lap bander, we aim for our proteins first but still need to have balance in our diet. It's often a struggle but worth the effort. I want to start developing simple and healthy, lap band friendly recipes that I can share with fellow banders to help them on their weight loss/maintenance journey. I seem to have a passion for casseroles and items that are easy to portion. I also like items that re-heat well so they are portable for lunches and snacks. The cafeteria at work is NOT the best place for a lap bander to eat, so I prefer to take my own meals with me as often as possible. So there you have it! As I develop some recipes, I will submit my success stories so move over folks and make room at the table! There's a new member in the family and I'm so glad to be here! I've grown to love AR!
