About this Cook
Now that my husband and I have just moved into our dream home and I now have my dream kitchen, I am really enjoying cooking again. I love cooking especially on weekends when I am not rushed. During the work week, however, I am a quick and easy cook! Watch out Rachel Ray!
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy making soups, comfort foods, and especially appetizers. We like to entertain with friends and I'm always looking for new appetizer recipes!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Definitely making Christmas cookies! There are so many memories with my grandmother and my mother. Now I'm creating some new ones with my 2 daughters. We have cookie recipes that we only bring out during the holidays. That keeps them special.

Anytime I find something my kids don't pick at!
My cooking tragedies
Spending a lot of money on unusual ingredients and spices and then finding out the recipe tastes horrible!

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way
I used this recipe to make my first Thanksgiving turkey this year and it turned out wonderfully! It was very moist and tasty and easy to do!

Smushed Apples and Sweet Potatoes
My picky kids love this recipe, however I have had to make a few adjustments. One, I usually double it and two, you have to cook the apples a lot longer in order to get them to soften. I usually cook them for at least 20 minutes with the lid on.

Tangy Honey Glazed Ham
I've used this recipe a few times and everytime I get rave reviews! I noticed some reviews said it didn't change the taste of the ham and I'll agree, if you only rely on what you baste the ham with during cooking, it does not soak in enough. I usually serve it in a gravy boat and have guests pour it over the ham. It's so good, we want to lick the plate! It's even better the next day when you soak the leftovers in the glaze!
