Baked Ziti I

This recipe is so delicious! I omitted one jar of sauce, one onion, and provolone cheese.I used turkey instead of beef, and used whole wheat pasta. I'm not one for sour cream but it actually came out pretty well. This recipe is great and I have a lot of it for leftovers.

Oh my gosh this recipe is exactly what I was looking for! I used whole wheat flour instead of regular flour, and soy milk instead of regular milk. I added onion and garlic powder to the batter. I also seasoned the fries with It was soooo delicious. I am not a fan of fish so I used lean turkey breast instead. This recipe was great and I definitely will do this instead of ordering take out. Thank you so much for posting this I really loved it!

Banana Pound Cake With Caramel Glaze

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2010
OMG this recipe came out sooooo good after my modifications. I was hooked from the first bite! I halved the recipe and used: whole wheat flour instead of regular, organic cane sugar instead of white sugar , Extra virgin olive oil instead of veggie shortening, and soy milk instead of regular milk I ommited the pecans because they were not available at the time. I also put the cakes in two buttered aluminum loave pans since I did not have any bundt pans. I was expecting a catastrophe since when I was mixing the butters and sugars the olive oil floated a bit on top but in the end I got this beautiful delicious pound cake like dessert drizzled with tasty caramel sauce. The sauce was so good I see myself making it to coincide with some apples! This recipe is so easy and can be very great for events like garnishing with strawberries or bananas and leaving a bowl of caramel glaze in the middle, yum yum!

Banana-White Chocolate Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2010
I added flax seeds instead of the banana. It was okay but I ommited the chips after a couple of recipes since they were just additional sugar.

Traditional Gyro Meat

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2010
This recipe was sooo delicious.! I used ground turkey instead of beef and it was still amazing. It does need a bit more salt. I learned that it tastes best when it is frozen after being cooked and then sliced the next day and pan fried. Since there wasnt enough salt I had to pan fry it in a bit of olive oil and then add a couple of tablespoons of water that had 1/16 tsp of salt in it. I just wish I could have perfected a sauce to place over the meat. Placing the meat in the processor does wonders to its texture and tastes. Aside from the lamb (I try not to eat red meat) I think that I have a recipe for the books!

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2010
So good and a great way to deal with the browning bananas. I used whole wheat bread and cane sugar as well as cage free eggs. I also added pure vanilla extract. I wish there was more of a banana flavor, it was kind of faint. It was still good dont get me wrong, but I wish it had stronger banana flavor.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2010
I made this recipe at least three times before I decided to write a review. This recipe was so delicious but I had my own modifications, I originally halfed the recipe: I mixed 1/4 cup butter and olive oil to ensure moisture. 1 1/2 cups of organic cane sugar 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract (not good with imitation) 2 cage free veggie fed eggs 3/4 cup whole wheat flour 1/2 cup hersheys cocoa powder 1/2 tsp celtic sea salt 1/2 cup natural chocolate chips This recipe was so delicious my sister and I loved it and she rarely likes to try new recipes that I make! Next time Im gonna try adding white chocolate chunks!

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2010
Oh baby this was so delicious. I made my own crust and modified the recipe by using healthier and natural ingredients. I hate to say this because I feel like a glutton but a bit more sugar is needed in the pumpkin mixture. I did not have crushed cloves so I tried to use my own. Not a smart idea. Other than that it was a very delicious treat. Thank you for sharing that recipe it was a fun challenge!

Homemade Egg Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2010
I modified the recipe: Whole Wheat Flour, Organic Soy Milk, Grade B Maple Syrup, Sea Salt and Flax seeds. I let it sit in the bowl covered while I attended class, I made three small loaves since whole wheat flour doesnt rise as well. It was an awkward taste but after i refrigerated it for a day and toasted it with butter before i consumed it was very delicious! Next time I will probably knead the flax seeds in because it made the exterior too hard. Also I will use whole wheat pastry flour since it is a bit more refined. Thank you for posting this recipe, it was fun to see if I could make my own bread

Cheesecake Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2009
For this recipe to be successful one must follow these three main rules: 1) Double the filling - When doubling the ingredients double all ingredients except use one egg to avoid an eggy taste. 2) Refrigerate for atleast three hours before consuming. Taste great when you make it in the evening and consume it the following afternoon. 3) this recipe makes 36 cubes not bars lol. The cubes are great for appetizers. This recipe was great except I used whole wheat flour and crushed almonds. Instead of butter I used peanut oil which gave the crust a nice nutty taste. I also used organic soymilk and omitted lemon juice due to the recommendation of others. I intend to use this recipe repeatedly it was simple quick and delicious. Also very economical.

House Fried Rice

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2009
It was very delicious. I ommited the vegetables and ham. I used brown rice instead. It was very delicious but I did not use soy sauce because all I had on hand was one made with corn syrup. It was fine with sea salt though. Not like my local restaurant but probably would have been if i added soy sauce.

Cinnamon Rolls I

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2009
Quick simple recipe, I did substitute several things for my benefit. 1) I used organic maple syrup instead of white sugar 2) Whole Wheat Flour instead of white flour 3) Sea salt instead of regular salt 4) One cold vegetarian egg 6)Olive Oil instead of butter 7) Raw brown sugar instead of granulated I also doubled the amount of cinnamon. It was delicious and they swelled out large. I did add a bit too much brown sugar so it was very sweet with some icing I made from another recipe. All in all this is a great recipe and I do intend to make it again in the future.

Cinnamon Bun Icing

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2009
This recipe made about eighteen ounces of icing. i substituted olive oil for margarine and used organic confection sugar and unsweetened organic soy milk. This would have been a great recipe if it wasnt for the fact that it was TOO SWEET! Something told me to stop at two cups but i wanted to follow the recipe completely. Also it came out a bit lumpy so there were balls of sugar in the frost. Also it was really hard to stir. If i were to follow this recipe again then I would use less confection sugar and mash it before i add it to the mixture.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2009
I substituted whole wheat flour instead of white flour and used a teaspoon of organic maple syrup instead of sugar. Was delicious and crispy. I put the rest in my refrigerator and intend to make more pizza later this week. Topped with mozzerella and romano cheese, it was the best.
