Grandma's Lemon Meringue Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2012
This is a GREAT recipe!!! I have never made lemon meringue pie before but it came awesome! I used two lemons and all of there rind for one pie, the secret to getting all of the juice out of the lemon is to warm the lemon up in the microwave for 30 seconds then roll the lemon on you counter will applying pressure ... it releases all of the juice you will be amazed how much is in there. Also the meringue turned out amazing and I added 1 tsp. of lemon juice to the egg whites before I added the sugar, it really gives the meringue a great flavor. After baking in the oven for ten minutes I immediately put the pies in the fridge. Incredible recipe and TONS of amazing flavor! This will be a new Easter tradition at my house

Kay's Spaghetti and Lasagna Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2012
I am sorry to give this recipe a 3 star review but I was so disappointed with this recipe. My husband enjoyed it but I think he was being kind. The flavor was lacking and the bell pepper was way overpowering not in flavor but in overall texture. I am sorry to say I will not be making this again.

Antipasto Squares

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2012
Amazing recipe! I set the oven temp to 375 par baked the bottom of the crescent rolls in the 13x9 for six minutes before adding the rest of the ingredients. I layered the meats and cheeses and added and additional layer of mozzarella(we really like cheese in my house)baked it covered in foil for 20 minutes then uncovered for 20. I allowed it to cool for another 20 minutes before cutting so that it could set up. Next time I might add a very thin layer of tomato sauce and double the bell pepper. Great recipe perfect for a party I might even make them for super bowl!

Dad's Leftover Turkey Pot Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2011
This is by far the BEST pot pie recipe I have made. I love that it makes two pies, it perfect to freeze one or eat the next day as leftovers. This recipe is so simple and yet so very flavorful. I used one 16oz bag of frozen veggies and half of a white onion. I am not going to lie I was very skeptical about the Italian seasoning but it gave the pie so much flavor! Can't wait to make it with chicken for a quick week night dinner!

Cornucopia

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2011
Very easy to make! I use one can of crescent rolls and one can of bread sticks. I shape my cornucopia with foil and lightly spray the foil with cooking spray. I then wrap the crescent rolls around the foil pinching the pieces together to connect them. I use the bread sticks to make the braid. I also picked up a tip from another review and used toothpicks to hold it together while baking. I have made this using only bread sticks and it was not as successful, the crescent rolls work so much better and look better as a finished product I highly recommend doing it this way. Allow it to cool completely before trying to remove the foil, if you have trouble getting the foil out try pulling it in a twisting motion. Also I only use the egg wash for the top of the cornucopia I never use it to hold the dough together as it makes everything very messy, slippery, and wet resulting in a very difficult time putting it all together.

K-Dub's Alfredo Ravioli Bake

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2011
Great base of a recipe, you can make this a hundred different ways.. I omitted the chicken, used beef ravioli's and added a bag of frozen vegetables. This is so easy and you can always keep a bag of ravioli's in the freezer for a fast last minute dinner. thanks for sharing!

Donut Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2011
So yummy!!!! I have made these several times and I figured it was about time I left a review. I always double this recipe, 24 sounds like a good amount but it's really not enough. I follow the recipe but I use 1/4tsp of nutmeg total. These are so easy and fast to make just remember to grease you muffin tins really really well or you will have trouble getting them out... Mine bake up for 15 minutes on the dot. Love this recipe!

Gourmet Caramel Apples

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2011
Good recipe a ton of work. When I read other reviews saying the same thing I thought no way but yes it's a lot of work. I doubled the recipe and it made 12 beautiful apples. A word of advice let the caramel set on the apples in the fridge for an hour. I waited the 15 minuted that the recipe calls for and when I dipped the chocolate layer ALL of the chocolate ran off it was horrible. Once we let them sit in the fridge we were able to go back and re-dip them. Also cut the amount of shorting in half I really feel that's why I ran into trouble. Now that I know how these work I will be making them again but giving myself more time and patience;-)

Black Cat Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2011
Great recipe so cute and so fun! I followed the directions and everything went really well. I used mini m&m's for the nose, this recipe made 30 good sized cookies. The taste was great, almost a brownie/cookie taste. I baked for 5 minuted then took them out put my candy pieces on and baked for an additional 5 minutes allowing them to cool for 1 minute on the cookie sheet before placing them on the cooling rack. I also sprinkled them with a little extra sugar, It really made the whiskers stand out. Great recipe it really got my family in the Halloween spirit, we will be adding this to our Halloween traditions;-)

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2011
This is a great recipe. I used seven granny smith apples. After seeing how much topping the recipe made I decided it needed a little bit more. I made the topping recipe again but I cut it in half and it was just enough. I baked it for 45 minutes and it came out amazing. Next time I will use granny smith apples mixed with a red variety to balance out the tartness. Perfect recipe for a cool fall day!

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2011
Really great cookie! I used others suggestions by adding an additional 1/2 cup flour, additional 1/2 tablespoon baking soda, and decreasing the salt to 1/2 tsp. I baked them for 11 min and it was perfect i allowed them to cool for one minute before placing them on the cooling rack this recipe made about 40 cookies so i was really happy about that! I will be making these again!

Slow Cooker Beef Barbacoa

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2011
Great recipe!!! I had to alter it to fit into a weeknight menu as most people are not home to stop the cooking process after 4 hours. So what I did was follow the direction my only change was cook my meat on low for 8 hours. After that I followed the directions and returned it back to the crock pot for 1 hour on high... I also added a good amount of garlic salt to the meat when it was cooking on high, it gave it such great flavor.. This is an amazing recipe and tastes so wonderful!!!! You will be so happy you made it!
