Hi all.  I was thinking the other day that a good blog would be about weird food and what inspired you to make it.
I think the weirdest thing I ever made was a mayonaisse, pickled herring and limburger cheese sandwich. I thought it was ok at first but an hour later I was in gastronomic hell.  I guess the inspiration was in an attempt to finish off the New Years Day leftovers and I took it too far.  I am still apologizing  to the fetching Mrs. Politte.
I am curious to hear your weird meals or snacks ideas and what possessed you to make them-and eat them.

I submitted a Cheeseburger Macaroni skillet that was pretty odd for me but very good. Quite close to a real cheeseburger.

I don't know if pre-adolescent culinary attempts count, but my mom still teases me about the 'pickle boats' I used to make as a kid. Cut whole dill pickle in half, scoop out seeds, fill with wheat germ, serve. lol! I thought I was being gourmet, apparently! :)

Kimchee curry (kimchee mixed with that curry sauce you can buy in a pouch, then poured over rice), and kimchee mixed with natto are a few of our strange combos. And the other day, my kids made themselves a "snack" of apple slices wrapped in nori. At least they did eat it all!

I actually made fish pudding for my DH. Yep, pudding made with fish - and he loved it!! The wierdest part was I had to go to IKEA to get the right kind of fish. Ah, those wild and crazy Norwegians and Swedes LOL!

Faux guacamole. Mexican night and no avos. Pureed peas with shallots, cilantro, lime juice and a litte choped tomato. It was a hit!

Made a bacon and swiss cheese quiche, and when it was done baking, I topped it with salsa, sour cream, more cheese, and chocolate chips. I was pregnant, enough said!

I forgot the time when I was young, poor and single and the only things I had in the cupboard was lentils, pickles and soy sauce-what a great stir fry that was!!

On the guacamole theme, I made green eggs and ham stuffed eggs. Minced ham in guacamole stuffed into the indentation in halved hard boiled eggs. Not a good look. Not a good taste. Did it for book club dinner as it had a quasi-literary reference. Usually I can pick them better. CJ

Back in the day when I was taking prednisone for Bell's Palsy, I mixed vanilla ice cream with popcorn, topped it with crushed potato chips & had it with beer. It's pretty good when you're full of medicinal steroids. :o)

The weirdest thing I ever made was a cooked salami and grape jam sandwich.Hey! Don't knock it if you haven't tried it.Some people like cream cheese and jam. I did't have the cream cheese only cooked salami,I figured, why notuse it.

I made fried peanut butter & hot dog sandwiches ( for an ex-boyfriend.) I did not taste it - but I had to fry the hot dogs, then slice lengthwise onto the pb sandwich, then pan fry it . I guess they were good ....he ate two.

Missing my family growing up and working 80 hour weeks, but I can say that it paid off. No regrets.
