Weeknight Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2010
Followed the advice of others and doubled the sauce, browned the pork chops in a pan then baked at 350 for 40 minutes. Didn't have cider vinegar on hand so I used red wine vinegar as a substitute. The whole family raved, will make this again.

Pan-Fried Asparagus

My husband could not get enough! Used closer to a pound of asparagus and only half of the butter. Tasted great, I will be making this again!

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2008
I followed this recipe with the exceptions of: used a crockpot, added andoiulle sausage and shrimp towards the end, added Penzey's Gumbo File (powdered sassafras). AMAZING!!! My husband flipped out for it, this will become a regular for us.

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2006
Wow this BBQ was a huge hit. Following the advice of my butcher I used Boston Butt instead of boneless ribs. I cooked the meat for 8 hours the night before the party, drained and shredded it and stored it back in the crockpot overnight in the fridge. About 4 hours before the event I added the Sweet Baby Ray's (don't settle for kc masterpiece - yuck) and some of the left over stock drained from the crock the night before. So amazing, I will be making this again!

Fabulous Football Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2006
WOW, everyone loved this dip and requested I make more for the OSU v Texas football party this weekend. I used a hot sausage mixture found in our local grocery butcher department. It was fab, going to make this a permanent fixture!

Sarah's Salsa

Reviewed: May 26, 2006
This salsa was a huge hit. I used 3 serrano peppers instead of 1 jalapeno - it had some kick that is for sure! Will make this again

Spring Strawberry Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2006
I really enjoyed this salad - even though I forgot to pick up the poppy seeds at the store. This one is a new favorite.

Cheddar Ranch Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2006
This dip is a huge hit everytime I make it. I use pre-packaged crumbled bacon instead of bacon bits, I think it has a better texture that way. Bacon bits tend to be too hard.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2004
I followed the recipe as listed then made changes according to readers reviews (hence 4 stars instead of 5). I added carrots, celery, a bay leaf and used chicken broth instead of water. In addition I let the biscuit dough cook for an hour in the crock pot instead of the 30 minutes, they came out perfectly. I will definately make this again!

King Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2004
The dough is easy to work with and the outcome was great! We tucked in a plastic baby prior to icing, then sprinkled purple, gold and green edible confetti on the top to add to the Mardi Gras spirit. We have a request to make it for friends next Mardi Gras!

Habanero Hellfire Chili

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2004
I have made this recipe twice now and get rave reviews from our guests everytime. Depending on who is going to be eating the chili, I adjust the amount of peppers to regulate the hottness. This makes great chili leftovers as well!

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2004
We wanted leftovers so I doubled the recipe. Wow am I glad I did, the leftovers are just as good if not better! Could not find golden mushroom soup mix so substituted regular cream of mushroom instead and it came out great. I in advertently added the cream cheese when I initially mixed the ingredients so it was in there the whole 8 hours. It didn't seem to have an adverse affect on the end product.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2004
This recipe was fabulous. I added carrots, celery, potatoes and onions and kept the portions of the recipe the same. I also used beef broth instead of the water for additional flavor. The end product came out in more of a stew consistency but that was fine with us.

Reviewed: May 1, 2003
I have made this twice so far... everyone loved it!! I have sent the recipe to so many of my friends =) To make things a little more simple I used precooked bacon. It tasted great! In addition I used shredded cheese instead of slices of processed.
