Meatball Nirvana

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2013
I used Italian breadcrumbs and added some minced garlic (the jarred kind and drizzled some of the juice in as well). I would recommend dicing the onions into itty-bitty pieces otherwise your meatballs look like they have tumors. I cooked on 400 for 11 minutes and then down to 385 and threw in a loaf of ciabatta. I then cut off a chunk of ciabatta, sliced it in half, sprinkled on Provel (yes, Provel, not provolone)and more minced garlic and heated up tomato sauce from The Hill. Then I sliced two meatballs in half, placed on burn-the-roof-of-your-mouth Provel cheesy bread and smothered in tomato sauce. Mmmmm. Almost as good as Fassi's.

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2011
My first two trays came out huge width-wise! So for the third tray, I did what Carist suggested. I put the dough in the freezer for a couple minutes after adding about 1/4C of flour. I used a cool pan (not the ones that just came out of the oven) and the cookies came out beautiful! I had also added 1tsp of vanilla which may have added to the spreading. Next time I'll cool the dough for a few minutes before putting on the trays.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2010
It was a terribly easy recipe. I used a bag of steamfresh veggies and added a red potato. I made pie crusts fresh which I think made a huge improvement. Next time I'll experiment with seasoning because the chicken especially wasn't exactly flavorful. Definitely a keeper though!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2010
YUM! YUM! YUM! I used parchment paper on the sheets and the cookies came out so even it was unreal! Will try this recipe with white chocolate and macadamia next time!

Famous Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2010
I sorta messed up and mixed the eggs into the cracker mix but it worked really well. In fact I think the pork stayed more moist because I slathered the chops in the mixture and left it on while it baked. Yum!

Grilled Salmon I

Reviewed: May 30, 2010
I totally had every intention of grilling these but t-storm let loose. I follow Elizabeth's advice from 11.2009 (including changing some of the ingredients) baked them in oven at 400 for 15 min next to the bacon-wrapped asparagus. I will definitely make again!

Sesame Beef Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2010
It had really good flavor but the sauce was thin. I think next time I might try some cornstarch to thicken it up a little. But definitely will use again!

Stuffed Green Peppers I

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2009
I only made 2 peppers but wanted leftovers of the meat (and I also used ground turkey). I did add a little more Worcestershire sauce and I used a fresh tomato instead of a can. Excellent recipe but needs some more spices.

Hasty Chocolate Pudding

I was just craving some chocolate but didn't feel like making a cake. This was perfect! I made up some whipped cream from heaving whipping cream and put both in the freezer. YUM!

Cabbage and Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
I picked this recipe because I was so tired of looking of ways to simultaneously cook dumplings & cabbage while my roast was in the oven. This recipe was great! I used red cabbage and a red onion--I'd probably scale back and only use 3/4 of the red onion next time because it was a little tough on the tummy. Thanks for helping this bohunk save time cooking and a great and simple recipe!
