Dad's Favorite Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2013
Not the best. I read quite a few of the reviews and made the changes most all had suggested and these had very little PB taste even upping it to a cup of PB. The one cup of brown sugar was too much...that's what these taste like, I'd stick with the original sugar amounts in the recipe. I did cut the vanilla to 1 1/2 tsp. and that was perfect. Otherwise there is no PB taste - not a classic recipe at all.

Honey Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2013
I thought this was really good. I did make the changes many had suggested. I used 2 cups of whole wheat flour and 1 cup bread flour. I upped the honey to 1/4 cup and added 1 tsp salt. I also used butter instead of oil. I baked this in the oven instead of my bread maker. It rose nicely, I did 2 rises, the 2nd in the loaf pan. The bread came out beautiful and tastes so good with the modifications.

Dee's Health Bread

Reviewed: May 3, 2013
Not the best taste. I halved this recipe to 36 and got 2 loaves. I had hoped it would have great flavor looking at the ingredients, but it's pretty bland. Turned out nice in that they rose nice, they are moist, not a brick of wheat bread as some can be, pretty loaves but flavor is lacking. Maybe another tbsp of honey? I don't know, it's missing something, may experiment one more time.

Honey Wheat Bread II

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2013
Not the greatest. Mine barely moved on the 2nd rise (yeast proofed fine) and I kept giving it time to rise until I finally did the "imprint test" and it said it was ready despite looking pretty much the same height as when it went in. I knew it wouldn't rise much cooking. It came out with a good consistency, but it was small of course, and pretty bland, though I followed the suggestions of increasing the honey. I don't know what I was expecting with taste, maybe I'm an artisan bread snob? I was trying to find a simple wheat bread for my kids to substitute for store-bought. I guess this would be it, but the issues with rising - I've never had a bread not rise so I'm a bit perplexed. I'll give it another try it again before writing it off.

Easy Broccoli Quiche

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2013
This was very good. No major changes other than one whole onion would be overwhelming. I used what I had in the fridge, 1/4 of an onion and it was plenty. It also took a full hour to cook through, not 30 minutes. My oven is cooking to temp, so that's not the problem. I think you could get away with a bit less cheese and salt too. The salty mozzarella and a teaspoon of salt...it was plenty salty.

Spicy Honey-Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2012
The house smells wonderful while this is cooking. I thought this was good just as written other than cooking time. I realize ovens are all different but if I had cooked this even 1.5 hours it would have been very dry. I cooked the initial instructions at 400 for 30, then it only took another 30 at 350 to reach the correct internal temp. Definitely set your mind for basting early in the 2nd half, and take the temp while doing so.

Pork Chalupas

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2011
This was delicious! I think it could be hotter (spicier) but is very good just as it is. I agree with the other reviewers 1 tablespoon of salt is plenty and do not add it until the end (after beans were done and I shredded the pork and returned it to soak together again, then I added the salt).

No Bake Cookies III

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2011
I thought these were great. I did follow the suggestion of getting the first 5 ingredients to a rolling boil, then time for 1 minute. Remove from heat, add vanilla and PB and melt that. Then add the oats. Perfect choc/pb flavor and consistancy.

Best Ever Popcorn Balls

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2009
These were easy and delicious! I read through all 181 reviews before I began. I followed the advice to use buttered popcorn, I did add popcorn salt. What I cut down was to use just 2 cups of powdered sugar. I left the rest the same, and did add 1 tspn vanilla after the syrup mixture was ready to come off the burner. I used 3 bags of microwave popcorn, and divided it up 1.5 bags for 1/2 the syrup mix to make it all easy to handle. For those who had a hard time making it stay in a ball, I wonder if you mixed it long enough and had let it cool down some, so that it was easier to set. ? Anyway, easy, easy for me. I did have a hard time getting the M&M's to stay put, so instead I made the popcorn balls and put different cookie-decorating type sugars in individual bags, and shook the decorations onto the ball, that worked great! I set them all out on wax paper, and wrapped in colored saran wrap. Very easy, and really delicious recipe. Not to sweet at all - I stayed away from the kettle corn, just because there was already so much sweet going in.
