About this Cook
Married to my best friend. He and I have 3 awesome kids, 1 son and 2 daughters. We have a seed farm and a seed plant and I stay at home with our kids. I am a college graduate that enjoys friends and family.
My favorite things to cook
It's easier to answer this by saying what I don't like. I don't enjoy anything that takes too terribly long or that has weird or unusual ingredients. We like good, comfort food or food with great flavour, but not too spicy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I would say that our family has a long line of great bakers. I enjoy dessert-making more than cooking.
My cooking triumphs
I have taken certain recipes and altered them to fit us better. I use yogurt in place of margarine or oil in waffles and pancakes. I use yogurt as a base for Baked Parmesan Chicken in lieu of margarine. I have my own Shepherd's Pie and pasta meat sauce. I'm most known for baking great cookies and desserts.
My cooking tragedies
Who hasn't had those? I've forgotten baking powder/soda a couple times. I once prepared a dough for my bread maker and left the canister out until my daughter noticed. My greatest blunder was when I made this attractive chocolate pie with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles for my soon-to-be husband and father-in-law at their home. They had their sugar stored in an old peanut butter jar and that's what I grabbed to make the crust. When they went to eat it, I found out that the pie was very SALTY! Here there were TWO old peanut butter jars in the cupboard and I obviously grabbed the salt!

Turkey Tetrazzini II
This was a great base for a recipe, but I did add things to give it more flavour. I chopped up an onion, added some garlic, added some peas, and added some seasoned bread crumbs. My family liked it and my husband especially enjoyed it a lot. It was a great way to finish off the rest of our turkey from our Thanksgiving.

Herald's Impossibly Easy Cheeseburger Pie
Like many others, I thought the recipe needed more. I seasoned my meat, added more garlic, used less pepper than called for, used drained canned tomatoes (diced). I have my own homemade "Bisquick" that I used on top. Yet, I still found this on the bland side and didn't like it enough to make it again. I would have rated it 2+1/2, but couldn't. Just didn't wow us.

Banana Bread - Quick Bread for Machines
Sorry to say that this was the first thing in 13 years of bread machine recipes that didn't work. Perhaps if the instructions were more compatible to most machines. I tried to adapt as best I could with my Black and Decker. It didn't mix nicely, didn't bake through completely. I wish it would have worked, but I'll stick to the handmade banana bread that my family loves.
