About this Cook
I wish I had time to cook more than 30 minute meals in my day-to-day life. I am a young, working mother of 2 (kindergartner and newborn) who is also going to school. It's hard balancing a husband, kids, work, and school!
My favorite things to cook
Any new recipes I find on here!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family is from South Africa, and one of my favorite traditions is making pickled fish for Easter. It looks repulsive, but tastes so good! Other than that, I try to dabble in my mother's recipes, which are mainly Indian cuisine.
My cooking triumphs
I am an excellent baker! My specialties are cheesecakes and brownies :)
My cooking tragedies
I cannot make a tasty soup to save my life!

Shepherd's Pie VI
Delicious! I followed some other reviews by cooking the potatoes and carrots together (separating them...not so fun since I used baby carrots, but more fun than cleaning another pot!), using Worcestershire in the ground beef, and sour cream in the potatoes. My favorite layer was the mashed carrot layer! I've always had cottage pie with the mixed veggies as a layer, but the carrot mash was delish!

Mouse's Macaroni and Cheese
This is a good starter recipe. I was craving pepperjack mac n cheese, and I wanted a different recipe than my usual. My only complaint with the recipe for sure is it needs to be cooked uncovered for 5 - 10 minutes to crisp up the bread crumbs. I ended up using 1 cup of pepper jack, 1 cup of a Mexican cheese blend, and a can of evaporated milk instead of 2 cups milk. Turned out very cheesy and spicy!
