Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2011
These are the best scones I have ever had! My husband couldn't get enough of them either! I mixed the sour cream in baking soda in a bowl. Beat the butter and sugar in another. Then added the egg and a teaspoon of vanilla. Mixed the dry ingredients together, added them to the butter/sugar mixture. Then added the sour cream. I used chocolate chips instead of raisins, but plan on making many different combinations! I also sprinkled raw sugar on top before baking. Thank you for an excellent recipe!!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2011
I added some things so that is why I am only giving it 4 stars...but it was sooooo good! I put my chicken breasts in the crockpot frozen and sprinkled onion powder, pepper, and paprika over them. I used a can of chicken broth instead of water. I added about 2 cloves of chopped garlic and didn't add the onion. I also chopped up a potato and added about a cup to a cup and a half of mixed frozen veggies. I let it cook on low for about 6 hours, shredded up the chicken, and added some flour/cold water mixture to thicken up liquid. I made my own buttermilk biscuit mix and let that cook on high for about an hour. Was very good and I will be making this again and again!

Simple Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2011
This is the best wheat bread I have made, and tried! I have been making my families bread for quite some time now but have yet to find a wheat bread that I love...I have found it! I did substitute brown sugar for honey because I was out and it still turned out perfect. Thanks for a great recipe!

Quick Yeast Rolls

These are great! I have been looking for a yeast roll that is like my great-grandma's and this is very close! I followed the recipe exactly and the rolls came out so yummy...not dense at all. Thank you for a great recipe!

Bacon Jack Chicken Sandwich

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2011
These are a great quick meal to make! I marinated the chicken in a honey dijon dressing all day and omitted to poultry seasoning. I cooked the chicken on my George Foreman grill, sauteed the onions and added avocado. I also used regular jack cheese because my kids don't like spicy. My husband and kids loved it!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2011
Excellent recipe! My husband, who is not a huge soup fan, could not get enough of this soup. The only thing I did differently was chicken broth for the beer. Will be making this often!

Mom's Coleslaw

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2011
I am very picky when it comes to coleslaw and this recipe is awesome! My family loved it as well. The only thing I changed was using white vinegar because I was all out of cider vinegar.

Slow Cooker Texas Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2011
This is the best pulled pork I have ever had! Sooooooo good. After cooking it for about 8 hours in the crockpot, I shredded the pork, then let the shredded pork cook in the sauce for another 1 1/2 hours before serving it. My husband is not a big pulled pork fan but couldn't get enough of this and asked for it to be cooked again.

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2011
This recipe is soooooo good! I read a couple of other reviews and used 2 packets of italian dressing and 2 cups of beef broth and 1 cup of water. After shredding the beef, I added sliced green and red peppers to the mix and let it cook for about an hour. I served it on homemade french rolls with provolone cheese and carmelized sweet onions. We were in heaven! Took the left overs today to my mom's house and everyone there loved it too! I will be making this again and again!!!

Old Fashioned Pineapple Upside-Down Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2011
I have made this cake a couple of times now and my family loves it. The first time I made it exactly like the recipe and it was a hit with my husband and in-laws. Tonight I used fresh pineapple and added coconut on top of that. I only used 3/4 cups of granulated sugar. I also added coconut extract instead of the almond and a couple of tablespoons of plain yogurt to make it a little more moist. This version was my favorite! But following the recipe exactly is 5 stars!

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2011
The fruit salsa was a hit at my house! I didn't have kiwi or rasberries so used stawberries, blueberries, apples, a peach, and a nectarine. I also only used the 1 tbl of brown sugar. Thanks for a great recipe!

Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: May 29, 2011
I have made this cobbler about 4 times and love it! I have used both fresh and canned peaches and they both turn out really good. This recipe is great as is, however I do like to add a little ground cinnamon to the flour mixture.

Easy Granola Bars

These are a hit with my family! I like how this recipe just calls for the condensed milk to sweeten the bar. I also added flaxseed and wheat germ to mine. Thanks for a great recipe!

One Pot Pinto Beans

Reviewed: May 4, 2011
These beans are soooo good! I put them in the crockpot in the morning and let them cook all day. I added a couple of handfuls of cheese to them as I mashed them and left out the pico de gallo. My husband said they tasted like his grandma's (a huge compliment!) I will never be using canned beans again! Thank you for a great and easy recipe!
