My grandmother taught me how to cook at a young age, but it wasn't until about 4 years ago that I really started to enjoy it and experiment. I love to take a good recipe and change it up to make my own creation. I'm blessed with a very open minded husband who will try anything, so he makes it easy to be uninhibited in the kitchen! But, my children are my best critics. I know they will tell me right away if what I made was something I should never make again :)
My favorite things to cook
I love to experiment and make a variety of dishes. So much so that I find myself forgetting to make even things we loved more than once! I prefer cooking over baking, mostly because I am a working mother and eating dinner is a necessity, but eating baked goods is not :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother and father both are great cooks and have taught me a lot. I love our family recipes, tacos, drunken chicken, homemade pancakes, chicken dumpling soup but I also like to cook things that my extended family has never had before in hopes of helping them eat more of a variety!
My cooking triumphs
I have the worlds most terrible stove. I cannot wait to replace it!!
My cooking tragedies
When my husband and I first moved in together he had a terrible stomach bug. I wanted to make him my grandma's chicken dumpling soup but had never made it before. 4 hours into the entire process, all I had left were the dumplings. My dumplings sunk to the bottom of the pan and burned. It was the most terrible soup I've ever had!
