About this Cook
I'm a retired professional ballet dancer,and if you want to know anything about us strange breed, we love to eat! I've had many parties where I would love to cook and entertain my friends and colleagues! Now that I'm retired, I work full time now in a huge office, but my favorite escape is to cook. We have "goody" day and I like to cook and share the tasty delights from this website. I often have to fight over the kitchen with my boyfriend to cook! He is an excellent chef himself, so we both love to experiment and try new recipes.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook? OY! I definitely have an infinity towards Italian cooking even though I am Asian!! Anything with garlic! I love the Garlic-Lemon Double Stuffed Chicken from this website. I love cooking anything from meatloaf to elegant appetizers. Anything with cheese is good, too! I'm not a big sweets fan, my motto is "Death By Cheese!" LOL
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hate to say this, but my mom is not the greatest of cooks, I grew up with strange Filipino food that I pretty much turned my nose up to! She never really taught me how to cook, I learned on my own since I left home at an early age. Recently married, both my husband and I love to cook. We make the perfect team, he does the main entrees, grilling meat, etc, and I always make the appetizers and sides. We always refer to this website when making something new and to get ideas. Now that are we home owners, we love entertaining our family and friends with new dishes! Our favorites so far are the Garlic Prime Rib, Grilled Portabello mushrooms, Peanut Ginger Marinade, and Cioppino from this site.
My cooking triumphs
I like to think I've had many cooking triumphs, but when I made the "Cioppino" from this website, I felt like a true chef. Although I made some major modifications, the taste was exquisite. It was delicious, when I served it, my friends raved.
My cooking tragedies
This is really bad and I can't believe I'm going to make this public*LOL* but when I was around 8 years old, I wanted to bake a chocolate cake from scratch. When it came time to add vegetable shortening, I grabbed the can of "vegetable shortening" not realizing my mom had poured her excess grease into that can. OY!!! can you only imagine how that cake turned out? I had frosted it all pretty and had my aunt try the first taste! she spit it out immediately and cried something out in a non distinguishable language!*LOL* maybe THAT'S why I steer clear of making desserts!*LOL*

Salmon with Dill
Delicious, quick and easy. I marinated my salmon steaks in fresh lemon juice as well, to remove that fishy smell. Instead of onion powder, I diced up a 1/4 of an onion and sauteed it in the 2 tablespoons of butter, add in the dill, too! In the meantime, I salted both sides of the fish and added lemon pepper, too! I drizzled the butter/onion dill mixture over the fish and popped them in the oven for 10 minutes, then broil for 5 to brown the onions on top. YUMM! I have made this two Fridays in a row! LOL

Easy Tilapia with Wine and Tomatoes

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II
I have been making my own stock version of hot spinach and artichoke dip over the last ten years and decided to try something new! I am so glad I did! This was fantastic! I think it's the blend of different cheeses that makes it so tasty. I cheated, I used the "Italian Cheese" which is a blend of 6 cheeses, Asiago, Parmesan, Romano, Fontina, low moisture Mozzarella and Provalone. It made it so much easier to make and added the different shades of flavors to the dip. I also mixed in the regular Mozzarella and on a whim, added a little extra to the top for appearance. I added an extra clove of garlic because I am all about garlic. I was a little leary of the basil but it added a nice flavor to it! Throw out your usual recipe for today and try this one, you will not be sorry!
