Smoked Salmon Vodka Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2015
Eh . . . not inedible, but not good either. Kinda seemed like a waste of perfectly good smoked salmon. Used a good quality smoked salmon, substituted Red Wine for Vodka (didn't have any) - added Asparagus and then added some chicken breast to make meatier for the men in my family. I will not be making this again.

Fresh Tomato Marinara Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2014
Very good & very flavorful! Wonderful to make homemade marinara from my garden fresh tomatoes. I followed the recipe as written, although I doubled it. My sauce was a bit sweet prior to adding the Balsamic Vinegar - so after I added it - the sweetness was tamed. (Probably a result of sweet tomatoes.) My sauce ended up a bit watery, so I added a small can (6 oz.) of Tomato Paste to give it a little boost. Cooked mine for 3 hours. Will make this again!

Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2012
5 Stars for great taste and EASY! I've made this 4 times and loved it every time - as have my family & guests. Change: I wrap the seasoned roast with bannana leaves (from Asian Market frozen section) - which adds to the sweetness. And I have always used Himalayan Salt - as I have yet to find Hawaiian. Serve with Sticky Rice, Black Beans, Hawaiian Rolls, Tortillas and an assortment of sauces: BBQ, Sweet Chili, Teriyaki, etc. Everyone can find some way to eat this and be happy! Great for entertaining!

Joe's Fusion Chicken Pad Thai

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2012
Have to admit, I was a little sceptical when I started preparing this dish . . . but LOVED the results! Followed the recipe to a T - until the end and I added Peanuts along with the Green Onions. A little Cilantro would also be nice. Served with a squeeze of Lime - Delish! Thanks for the recipe! (Even my family liked it and they are not quite as adventurous as I.)

Bread Machine Rolls

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2012
Love these rolls! Been making this recipe for about 1 year now. Delish! Tonight replaced 1 Cup Bread Flour with Spring Wheat - very good! (Use 2 1/2 teaspoons of Yeast - rather than the package.)

Super Squash

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2011
Very good Squash dish! Comes out almost like a souffle - would be wonderful for Thanksgiving or a Brunch - as the kids thought it tasted a bit like a Breakfast Casserole. Will make this again, esp. for a crowd. (Didn't have Ranch Dressing Mix on hand - so followed the recipe for "Dry Ranch Style Seasoning for Dip or Dressing" on this site and added Dill Weed to it. Fabulous!)

Old Settlers' Baked Beans

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2011
Loved these beans! Made a double batch - omitted the White Sugar entirely. Thought the beans were still a bit too sweet with just the recipe amount of Brown Sugar, so added a half of a Jalepeno diced. This helped tame the sweetness and added just a hint of spice. Needed to add about one cup of water to loosen consistency. Cooked covered on the stove top for 1 hour and then moved to crockpot and held for 2 hours. Wonderful beans!

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2011
Tried this overnight for lunch yesterday and was terribly disappointed. Very acidic and nothing like pulled pork I have had before. Sorry.

Chocolate Surprise Cupcakes

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2011
These are FANTASTIC cupcakes. Very easy to make (even from scratch) with great chocolate taste. These will be made time and time again! Family loved them too. Like not having to ice them, but still moist and very flavorful. Will try this as a cake next time!

Turkey Sausage Breakfast

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2010
Good basic breakfast casserole. Next time, I would brown the Hash Browns a bit in a skillet before adding them to the mix as this would add more texture and taste to the dish. As other mentioned, I would also add Green/Red Peppers to it as well. My changes: I used 10 eggs, 3/4 Cup Milk and 1 1/2 Cups Cheese. Then baked at 350 in Convention Oven and it was done in about 35 minutes to golden brown. It easily fed 6 with some leftover.

Braciola II

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2009
Loved this! Made a few modifications: LESS garlic - just enough to put some on each piece of meat. ADDED: Bacon Strips to meat prior to rolling up. (Saw this in some other similar recipes.) REPLACED Anise Seed with 1 tsp Cinnamon, 1 tsp Nutmeg, 1 tsp Cloves (found substitution online.) My entire family liked this and they can be picky eaters!
