Vanilla Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2014
Tasty! Only sub was milk for water and a little extra cornstarch. A lot easier than messing with sauces that have eggs and tempering.

October Oatmeal Pumpkin Muffins

Loved this! So moist and delicious! I am breastfeeding and added a few tablespoons of flax meal and .25c brewers yeast to support lactation. So good!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2013
Very good! I'm not quite sure why, as it's nearly the same as the one on the back of the chocolate chips, but it's definitely a better recipe! The only change I made was using half butter, half crisco (I didn't have enough butter on hand). Delicious!

Pumpkin Muffins with Streusel Topping

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2013
Very tasty recipe! I particularly liked the topping (though I doubled it as a few other reviewers did). I used a full can of pumpkin and only a half cup of oil, and used 1 c. each of wheat flour, white flour and oatmeal. Also chocolate chips in place of raisins, but otherwise left it the same. Very moist and delicious!

Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2013
So good! I followed the recipe pretty much exactly as written, except I just made a powdered sugar glaze (without the cream cheese). They were really great rolls! Sweet and tasty without being overpoweringly sweet. I'll definitely make them again. I might even try adding pumpkin or something!

Jamie's Minestrone

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2013
This was very tasty! Easy to play around with. Like a few other reviewers, I used 4 cups of broth. I also used one can of tomato sauce and one can of diced tomatoes in tomato juice (undrained). Also, I pureed about 2 cups of the mixture (before adding pasta) to thicken it a little. Super easy and so healthy and full of veggies! I'll definitely make it again!

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2013
This was excellent! I made it slightly healthier by using 1 c. wheat flour, half applesauce/half oil, and cut the sugar amount in half. Usually when I do that I can definitely tell, but I didn't even notice. I'm sure making it to recipe for a dessert would be fantastic! Will definitely make again!

Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2013
Delicious! Easy to play around with/use different veggies, etc. I took the advice of some other reviewers and used broth instead of water. Decreased to 6 c. and used a can of undrained tomatoes (the kind that is packed in tomato juice). Also used kale in place of spinach. I forgot to add the vinegar, and I'm sure it would have been a great addition, but I didn't notice at all. Flavorful, savory and healthy! Will definitely make again!

Chef John's Flour Tortillas

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2013
These were great! Followed the recipe exactly and they were nice and puffy and chewy. I rolled them really thin and they held up super well! Really good reheated too.

Tomato Pie I

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2013
Really liked this! I used fresh mozzarella, and omitted the meat (though I definitely want to try with bacon sometime!). A little watery (even with draining/seeding the tomatoes first), but not bad...it might just be inherent in this type of pie. I think using a baster to remove water throughout baking might work, or maybe pre baking the tomatoes just for a few minutes to get some water out. Very tasty, though!

Easter Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2013
This was really good, and super easy to experiment with! I baked the hash browns on their own for 10 minutes or so, and used some cooked sausage in place of the bacon. I also added some spinach and mushrooms to the peppers/onions, and it was great! I might try using baguettes or sourdough bread in place of the hash browns for a twist. Good standard recipe!

Cranberry Swirl Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2013
This is a really good cake! I've made it several times, and my grandparents especially love it. I usually add just a little less sugar...but it's not as sweet as some cakes anyway. I also use the whole cranberries, and it's best if you do them homemade! Easy, and a really pretty holiday cake.

Honey Cornbread

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2013
Great recipe! I omitted the sugar, as I like my cornbread sweet, but not overly sweet. Once I didn't have corn meal on hand, so I used grits and still got good reviews on it (though, I'd only try it personally if you like a little...well...grit to your cornbread:). Great with chili!

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

A great recipe! I love all the spices! I usually halve the sugar and up the mount of pumpkin, but otherwise I follow it exactly. Great with chocolate chips or nuts added!

Easy Granola Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2013
These were definitely easy and quick! They tasted good too, just fell apart easily. I added more wheat germ, but they were still quite crumbly. It was easier than many granola bar recipes though, so props for that! Also easy to experiment with. I added peanut butter/choc chips to half, and cranberries/walnuts to the other half. Both were good!

Chunky Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2013
This is my favorite potato soup recipe (don't tell my mom!). I don't add the carrot usually, and I've never tried it with the swiss, but the case recipe is great! Creamier and more flavorful than other recipes I've made. It is one of our winter staples!

This was great! I made it with mostly milk and a little heavy cream I had left over from anther recipe. It was very good, just make sure to salt it a little more than you think you should!

Four Egg Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2013
This was really great! I wouldn't say it was "fluffy" (although I whipped the butter/sugar enough that the batter was SUPER fluffy going in), but it had a wonderful texture! Kind of between a cake and a pound cake. The only change I made was cutting down the sugar, which probably change it a little (I used one heaping cup). sliced it lengthwise with a serrated knife, and spread a thin layer of strawberry jam, iced it with vanilla buttercream and topped with blueberries and strawberries. It was beautiful and my husband's family loved it! I'll definitely make it again! Don't even mess with boxed cake mixes again!

Key Lime Pie VII

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2013
This was really easy and really awesome! I ended up using a bit more lime juice than called for (right around a full cup), but otherwise followed it exactly. I also made my own crust, and it was great! The family gave great reviews too. This is a super easy and refreshing pie!

Chicken Parmesan

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2013
This was good! I love using panko crumbs to bread chicken/fish! It comes out so much crispier! I made my own sauce (just simmering together a big can of tomatos, a can of tomato paste, and some red wine/spices), and left out the fresh basil (though that sounded wonderful). Easy and didn't take too long.
