I decided to try a new recipe this year in search of my grandmother's sugar cookie recipe. I have been a sugar cookie maker for about 20 years. After reading the reviews, I decided to try this recipe out. I did add a cup of sugar AND a 1/2 tsp of almond extract. The recipe made a little over six dozen cookies.
I let my dough sit in the refrigerator overnight. The dough was very easy to work with. However, as many other reviewers pointed out, when baked this cookie puffs a lot, and then flattens out. Many of my cookies lost their beautiful shape and spread out about a third of an inch every direction. The taste is good, somewhat of a sponge cookie taste. I personally could eat the cookies by themselves without the frosting.
However, (to me), the look of a sugar cookie is a BIG part of the cookie.
