About this Cook
I'm a professional, married and a mom of two great boys. We have one crazy cat and a genius dog. Life's busy, and I'm always looking for quick, healthy meals that we'll all enjoy.
My favorite things to cook
I love to grill year-round, especially beautiful fresh fish.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My son, William (7) loves to cook with me. He's got his own little knife and is my prep chef.
My cooking triumphs
I love cooking the Thanksgiving meal for my family and friends. Aside from always cooking a few favorites (like corn pudding!) I try new recipes every time. It's always a joy.
My cooking tragedies
I got interested in cooking when I was about 16 years old and a vegetarian. I bought a really complicated Indian recipe book. The first recipe I attempted called for fresh dill. It didn't mention that you have to take the dill 'leaves' off of the woody stems. I chop-chop-chopped up the whole shebang. It was like eating toothpick salad.

Chef John's Turkey Chili
I heart this recipe so so much!!! I love that the flavor is complex - you can adjust the heat. And what I love most is using the chili spice as a rub on grilled chicken and fish. When I make this recipe, I double the spices, store 1/2 of them in a covered jar, and make the chili with the rest. The spice mix stays on-hand when I'm in a hurry. Rub it together with a T of oil into some chicken thighs and grill for a quick, DeLicious dinner.

Slow Cooker Chicken Marrakesh
I loved this recipe. I used off-the bone chicken thighs and liked how moist the chicken was. The sweet potatoes were a really lovely addition. I cooked on the stove-top, and it turned out great. Definitely will make this again

Pork Chops with Apple Cider Glaze
I don't eat meat, so I have no instinct for cooking it. I made these for my family and they loved it. Really simple.
