Asian Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2009
I made this today for my fiance and myself, and I have to say it was great! The only change I made was I added broccoli to the sauce. In the future l will definitely take the advice of several reviewers to use sesame oil and ALSO I will put the chicken in the oven after frying then pour the sauce on after its cooked so the chicken stays crisp (my only complaint was that the chicken lost all its crispy coating in the sauce). Orange chicken is one of our favorites to order when we go to an asian restaurant and I have to say this recipe is just as good as some of our favs! I should mention that I didn't have enough time to marinate for the full 2 hours, so with just over an hour in the fridge marinating the chicken still soaked up all that great flavor! Not too zesty not too sweet, I will definitely be making this again in the future!

This is my husbands favorite meal, he tells all of his friends how amazing "my" chicken parm is :) I pretty much make this recipe to the letter, give or take some fresh chopped oregeno if I remember to grab it.

Molly's Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2009
I made this chicken today, and both my fiance and I thought it was delicious (and he doesn't really prefer chicken legs)! I did dredge the thawed chicken legs in flour prior to putting them in the pot, and added more brown sugar as per my sweet tooth...I also threw in a little basil and used 3 cloves of garlic and cooked on low for about 4 1/2 hours. My pot runs a little hot so I knew it wouldn't take 8 hours. The meat slid right off the bone and I thought the sauce and its consistency was perfect. I served it with mashed potatoes (which I knew would go well with the sauce, and I was right) and sauteed asparagus. Really, really great!

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2009
I always follow the recipe exactly the first time I make something, and this recipe did not disapoint! It was very simple and my fiance and friends thought it to be better than most restaurants they've had pulled pork at! I used pork butt and the sweet baby rays bbq sauce, which I did not find to be too sweet (although I tend to like my sauce on the sweet side). I will definitely be making this again in the future, and may play with the ingredients a bit, but it is great as is

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
I made this pie for thanksgiving today and have already been hounded by all my Aunts and cousins for the recipe! I did take a few reviewers advice and added a teaspoon of vanilla (and in turn removed a teaspoon of water) and I also added 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon. I mixed the apples with the filling prior to putting them in the pie crust, and saved a little filling to brush the top of the lattice, also I baked at 350 the entire time and it came out perfect. Talk about AMAZING!! Many of my family members said it was the best apple pie they had ever tasted. Thank you so much for sharing this gem with us, and also the history behind it, rclyma, your review had me in tears, having lost my grandmother this year it really hit home-I of course used my Grandma Ware's pie crust, so it was the perfect representation of her at our first thanksgiving without her. Thanks again, and god bless!

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2010
I made these as a christmas treat this year, and took them to a friends christmas eve dinner party. Every on thought they were amazing! They are like little bites of cake! The only change I made was adding a little maple extract to the glaze, but I think I will do as another reviewer suggested and whip up some maple cream cheese frosting the next time I make them!

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2010
this is SOOOOOOO much better than the cream of mushroom green bean casserole. I followed the suggestions of previous reviewers and sauted the onions prior to adding the flour and so on and so forth.
