Slow Cooker Carnitas

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2010
If I could give this more stars, I would. My family ate 2 slow cookers worth and the little bit they did leave left, they ate for breakfast... BREAKFAST! Are you serious?? LOL It was a great hit! I left out the coriander because I was out (and didn't know it) and used fresh cilantro instead. Still was superb. Thanks for sharing!

Baked Asian-Style Honey Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2010
I tripled the marinade recipe, except on the "third time" I left out the onion and garlic as I had enough in the first 2. I also added 1 tablespoon of rice wine vinegar to the recipe (then times 3) and let it marinate in a ziploc bag in the fridge for about 6 hours. I baked it at 350 for 1 hour, flipping them half way through the cooking time. They came out moist and delicious! Thanks for a great recipe!

Roasted Vegetable Medley

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2010
I used some different veggies cause its what I had on hand: onions, carrots, potatoes, yams, zucchini, yellow squash, red and green bell peppers, fresh garlic, and fresh parsley. I also added a 1/2 teaspoon of Italian seasoning. I roasted the potatoes/yams/carrots for 30 minutes on 400 and then the rest of the veggies for about 20 minutes more. When done, I tossed it all together and served it warm and OMG it was delish! I made 2 huge pans and they were completely empty at the end of dinner with guests wanting more! Thanks for the great idea!

My family thanks you for their happy tummies and my husband thanks you for bringing back his childhood memories! I added 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper and they ate it all and I had to make a second pan full! This will be in our family for generations to come!

Mulligatawny Soup I

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2010
If I could give this recipe a higher rating I would. My son 18 loved it so much he asked for it the last 2 days in a row! I didn't have any fresh apples, so I substituted a can of unsweetened applesauce I had in the pantry and they ate it up! Thanks for sharing such a great recipe! It's become a family favorite and will remain with us for years to come!

My family absolutely loved this when garnished with cheese and sour cream. I did not use the beer at all but that was the only change I made. They emptied the slow cooker! Thanks to the OP who shared such a great recipe!

Buttermilk Pie IV

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2009
This was always my brothers favorite pie and nobody but my mother used to make it. So I used this recipe and made him one as a gift on Christmas eve... he ate half sitting right in front of me and finished the other half maybe an hour later! I had to make 6 of them within 1 weeks time! HUGE hit and will now be tradition every year! Thanks so much for sharing!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2009
This is a great base recipe, but I made a bunch of changes (hense only 4 stars). I used 7 chicken breasts diced into cubes. I then skillet cooked them half way after being seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. I put the soups, butter, and chicken in the pot and covered with chicken broth instead of water. I added 3 cloves of garlic finely minced and omitted the onion. I only used 1 can of butter flavor biscuits that I cut into quarters cuz I like big biscuits. I added those after 5 hours and then let it cook for an additional 1 hour. OMG it was heaven! I've loved chicken and dumplings ever since I was tiny and my husband hates chiken & dumplings but he LOVED this! So thank you very much for sharing these building blocks!

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2009
Used this recipe last night and it was a huge hit... with a couple of minor adjustments. I used a 16 oz. jar of salsa, added 3 cloves of fresh minced garlic, and 1 medium jalapeno pepper diced. I then split the recipe between 2 crock pots and in the 2nd one I added 4 more diced jalapenos and 2 tablespoons of habanero sauce to create "man chili" as my gang called it. It was HOT but delish! I served it with regular and jalapeno cheddar cornbread and they had a feast! Thanks so much for sharing!
