About this Cook
I am a SAHM to 3 teens and all their friends LOL! My husband is like having another teen and both he and the kids all have big appetites! I am the old-fashioned traditional "Susie Homemaker"... I love cooking, sewing, Arts & Crafts, etc... but not cleaning! Thank goodness for hubs and kids LOL! J/K!
My favorite things to cook
Well seeing as I truly love cooking and always wanted to go to culinary school, I can't pick just one favorite. I would have to say baking or my brisket and homemade potato salad... although others in my family would differ here lol!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Favorite traditions? Hmmm... SECRETS! LOL that's those few special recipes that you only make once a year (normally a "holiday thang" lol) and family members bug you for it all year long?! Makes cooking or baking those things that much more enjoyable and fulfilling!
My cooking triumphs
I consider all meals where the plates are clean and there are absolutely no leftovers a triumph LOL. I also consider it a success when you try something new and everyone likes it... even the most pickiest of eaters! That's the challenge and the reward is wonderful!
My cooking tragedies
I haven't had too many thank goodness. Lets see, I got really upset one time I burnt a brisket after slow cooking for 4 hours... it stuck to the new pan I had received. Never again! Good old fashioned foil roasters from now on! And then there was the soup... OMG gross! Burnt it so bad (again new pan- go figure!) that there was a sour smokey yuck taste! EWWW... peturbed me somethin' awful!

Slow Cooker Carnitas
If I could give this more stars, I would. My family ate 2 slow cookers worth and the little bit they did leave left, they ate for breakfast... BREAKFAST! Are you serious?? LOL It was a great hit! I left out the coriander because I was out (and didn't know it) and used fresh cilantro instead. Still was superb. Thanks for sharing!

Cuban Ropa Vieja
I used skirt steak and chili powder (instead of cumin) because its all I had on hand. I made 2 crockpots worth and I was hoping to have some left, but there was NONE left! Thanks so much for such a keeper!

Baked Asian-Style Honey Chicken
I tripled the marinade recipe, except on the "third time" I left out the onion and garlic as I had enough in the first 2. I also added 1 tablespoon of rice wine vinegar to the recipe (then times 3) and let it marinate in a ziploc bag in the fridge for about 6 hours. I baked it at 350 for 1 hour, flipping them half way through the cooking time. They came out moist and delicious! Thanks for a great recipe!
