Banana Cream Cheesecake

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2011
Delicious! Softer/mushier than baked cheesecakes usually are, which is how I like it. I used graham crackers instead of vanilla wafers because that's what I had available. Like another reviewer suggested, I used the banana butter icing recipe on this site as topping to avoid the unflavored gelatin and heavy cream. I will be making this again!

Decorator Frosting I

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2011
I love this frosting. It always turns out and is never runny and no having to buy expensive whipping cream that goes old in the fridge. Doesn't taste too sugary sweet and plenty fluffy, yet it holds it's shape. Thanks for the recipe!

Apple Cider Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
My biscuits did not have very much flavor (until adding a lot more), and I couldn't taste much cider. I used more cinnamon and about 4 tbsp of honey and 1 tsp vanilla. These were delicious dipped in cider, though.

Fruited Cranberry Relish

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2011
I did not make this exactly like the recipe states. Maybe my cranberries were bad, but they just did not provide a lot of cranberry flavor, just tartness. This is definitely a much healthier/appealing alternative to the can molded cranberry jelly! I used one clementine in addition to the navel orange and substituted the sugar for about 1/4 cup of honey and added just a pinch of cinnamon and 1 shake of ground nutmeg. A little spicy and not too tart.

Chocolate Mint Sandwich Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2010
Pretty tasty. For me this made a medium crunchy cookie. If you wanted a cakier texture, you could use the cookie dough from a recipe titled "Stef's whoopie pies" hers call for peanut butter filling, which is also excellent. I was just in the mood for mint and chocolate this time.

Cinnabun Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2010
Just like a cinnamon roll's taste with a cookie texture! Excellent Idea. I did make the icing like someone suggested (you can't have a cinnamon roll without icing) and I used regular shortening. No dollop on cookie sheet. After the dough being thoroughly refrigerated, I still needed more than a light flouring to prevent sticking, but maybe that's just me. I froze the rolls before baking to make cutting easier and to prevent spreading. I didn't "flip" the cookie sheet, just lifted each one with a spatula after cooking. One tip I could offer would be to only put filling on the first 2/3 of the rectangle since it gets squeezed out when rolling or let the warm mixture dry for a while first. Thanks! Definitely making again!

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2010
This is a good basic bread. Mine rose easily and turned out fine with all-purpose flour.

Toll House® Blonde Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2010
These brownies are more like cake, and mine turned out very dry. The flavor is good, but they need more moisture. I even added maybe a tbsp of oil and 2-3 tbsp of sour cream because the batter was more crumbly and then it turned into the consistency of cookie dough, unlike the usual runny batter.

Monster Cookies I

Delicious and always a hit. Best with m&m's and chocolate chips, but can use any flavor of chips or nuts. I add a pinch of cinnamon and will halve or third the recipe.

Creamy Banana Bread

Great taste, but I think I would double the filling. Mine didn't make much of a ribbon.

Peach Cobbler I

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2010
Tastes wonderful! I think I would like it better with almost twice the crust. Mine turned out a little soupy, so maybe I will make it without as much butter next time. I had a craving and this hit the spot!

Seattle Macadamia Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2010
These cookies are ok. It's hard to really taste the chocolate, and I even added some chocolate chips. I also added a little extra flour to prevent really flat cookies. I was surprised to find a cookie recipe like this with wheat flour. Maybe they would be better with walnuts or almonds, and maybe some butterscotch chips. I think that macadamias taste a bit like crayons.

Turkey Florentine

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2010
Very good. Had to use up some turkey lunch meat and fresh spinach and came across this recipe. I used chicken gravy. It was even suitable for a super-picky eater!

Danish Kringle

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2010
Turned out great! Followed all the directions and a couple reviews with no problem. Cooled dough for full 8 hours. I halved the recipe and was still able to make 2 danish, probably enough to feed 4. Made a blueberry filling by boiling blueberries, water and sugar and one with cream cheese, brown sugar and cinnamon. Definitely a keeper! Thanks.

Mmm Mmm Mmm! Great bread! Very moist and flavorful. I added some walnut pieces and a few chocolate chips on top! The perfect way to use up the sack full of discounted brown bananas!

We Be Jammin' Jamaican Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2010
Packed with flavor! I did need to alter the recipe. I used vanilla yogurt for the cream cheese, molasses for the rum, and omitted the zest, but added fresh dark cherry chunks. It's super moist and the coconut makes this recipe special.

No Bake Chocolate Oat Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2010
In my opinion, you can never go wrong with chocolate and peanut butter. I should have read more reviews because I ended up with puddles of butter... Still very delicious. Because I used regular oats, I cooked them for a little longer than the recipe says on low heat to soften. I will be making these again with less butter and possibly trying suggestions like nuts, graham cracker crumbs, or rice krispies. These would be excellent with a caramel sauce layer or on top! Mmmm!

Sunshine S'more Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2010
This made a nice, moist cake. I did alter it, though. I used yellow cake mix and added a tsp. of vanilla and used considerably more graham cracker crumbs inside the cake as well as using 2 whole eggs. I used semi-sweet chocolate chips instead of kisses. I did microwave the marshmallow cream to glaze the cake, and it spread fine, but marshmallow topping always makes a huge mess. All in all, I did really like the flavor of the cake. Maybe there is a recipe for a marshmallow flavored buttercream type icing.

White Almond Wedding Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2010
This was a delicious moist cake with flavor that's not too overpowering. I think the almond extract gives the cake a richer flavor and not so much like a boxed cake mix. I used canned frosting and 2 whole eggs. Simple to make and would be wonderful to experiment with different flavors of frosting.
