Beef Bulgogi

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2012
I used a brisket, braggs liquid aminos (inplace of soy sauce) and a yellow onion sliced thin. I also added about 1 TBS apple cider vinegar, the rest according to the recipe. I marinated 3-5 hours then cooked in a HOT cast iron skillet that I had let pre heat. I added the marinade to the pan once all the meat was finished cooking and added the meat back in to keep it all warm and cook the "Sauce". YUMMY! Next time 1/3 less braggs should make it perfect (it was a bit too salty). THANK YOU!!

Cheese Garlic Biscuits II

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2012
I made this recipe as written but using Gluten Free all purpose flour. I did add a dash of pepper and 2 big hand-fulls of cheese. Next time I will add garlic powder and more salt, I think that will do it. Overall Just OK.

No-Noodle Zucchini Lasagna

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2011
Very Good! I made a number of changes: 1. I Used Trader Joes Vodka Sauce and cooked the moisture out of it (so I skipped the sauce ingredients) 2. I used cottage cheese (I don't like ricotta) 3. I was out of mozzarella so I subbed Jack. 4. Pecorino Romano instead of parmesan -more flavor) It was very good! I also did not sweat the zuchinni, used frozen chopped spinach (not the block) and 1 basket of pre-slice mushrooms -SOOO Good!! I will reduce the black pepper to 1tsp and use mozz. cheese next time, and maybe a bit more pecorino Romano. ** Be sure to brown the top -it is ever so much tastier!

Dad's Home With the Kids Slow-Cooker Roast

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2011
I love this recipe I'm on HCG now so I didnt' add any oil, or sugars or added vegies -and this is EXCELLENT. For my family I would add carrots, potatos, and onion. NO: Worcestershire sauce, (sugar) lemon juice (i forgot it), or added oil ( infact I would skimm the cooled broth before storing it becuase there was plenty of fat from the beef). I used 5 cups of vegie broth (Seitenbacher Vegetarian Vegetable Broth -gluten, dairy, etc free) because I didn't have beef broth, Braggs (1/4) instead of Soy sauce, no carrots or pasta. I think the pasta in the pot would be Extreemly salty and would recomment cooking seperatly. I also added a sprinkle of red pepper flakes and a few grinds of my "McCormics Steakhouse seasoning GRINDER". I browned the roast in a cast iron skillet before i put it in the crock pot, then added the liquid and seasonings, gave it a stir and about 3-4 hours later I had the BEST most TENDER roast that just fell apart with a fork. I have been eating it with very thinly slice cucumber for the last few days. The only chane I would make is to reduce the Braggs Liquid Aminos futher to 2-3 TBS as it was a little salty. P.s I am making this for Sunday dinner for my family! YUMMY

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2011
I am a brownie connoisseur. The texture was great but the brownies tasted buttery -I never thought that would be a bad thing but I really didn't like it. My family liked the brownies -but they were not for me.

Pretzel Turtles

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2011
Super easy. I stacked the pretzel (waffle type) rollo (I purchased the rolls to save time) and pecan as many as would fit on my cookie sheet and baked just 3-5 mins. The heat lightly toasted the pecan and the turtles were complete in less than 15 mins start to finish. YUMMY!

Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2011
These were very good. The batter is very thick 1/4 cup made pancakes about 4" in diameter. The flavor could use more oomph -I think next time I will increase the cinamon and add nutmeg. I did add white chocolate chips (a family fav). I prefer a lighter pancake and because they needed a little more flavor I am only giving it a 4.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2011
Look beautiful and taste 5/5! These were quick and easy to make -and because they do NOT spread you can pack 20-24 per cookie sheet -so they cooked up relatively quickly! I followed the recommendations of adding 2tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt and 1 TBS vanilla (because I only had 1 TBS -next time I would use 2) FAB Cookies! Thank goodness because they were made to gift!

Moussaka

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2011
This is EXCELLENT! I made this GLUTEN and YOLK FREE: 1. Do Broil the eggplant rather than frying -it takes too long and the egg plant wants to soak up the oil. Just brush on top of each slice and flip when golden. 2.Fine herbs is an herb mix -i didn't have everything but I used some crushed Rosemary, basil and a tiny bit of thyme -I don't care for thyme -to replace the fine herbs. 3. 1 clove of ELEPHANT garlic -not sure how that relates since the flavor is mild. 4. Skipped the wine -I don't drink, used water instead. 5. Bechemel sauce: I used the butter, about 1 to 1.5 cups plain yogurt, 2 egg whites and added more of the nutmeg, cinnamon plus salt and white pepper to the sauce. No need to cook it. I then layered it on a dish (just one layer of each) and baked for 1 hour. It was DELISH! Next time I think I will cut the butter in the sauce in half -it was tasty but a little much. YUMMY! Thank you for this recipe. It hink I will double this reipe next time since my family ate it all for dinner! I have since tried it using the fine herbs -no good. I much prefer my method above. Also half the butter is not as good, maybe you could cut it by 20% but honestly I will just use it all next time

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2010
These are the best pancakes I have ever eaten! I folowed the recipe with one substitution -lemon juice for the vinegar -because I didn't have the vinegar. I let the milk sour for about 15 mins (becaue I was getting dinner in the oven before it got too hot here). I still can't believe I don't have that heavy feeling in my throat or tummy! A BIG thank you for posting this recipe!

Spinach and Leek White Bean Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2009
This is a good soup, although my family agreed that was bland. Next time I will try adding feta cheese as a garnish and increasing the cumin by atleast double. I will also decrease the couscous by half -it really absorbed most of the liquid and that may be why it was bland? Just as it was the pot was emptied. It left us feeling full and nourished.
