Milk Chocolate Peppermint Bark

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2012
This was the best and most easy recipe in all the Bark Recipes. I love that you can use the microwave to melt. The other Bark recipes felt complicated and too specific. I needed something simple for a group of high school girls to complete to bring to a school event. Anything more complicated could have turned the kitchen into a nightmare. Love this. And it tasted fantastic!

I have a hard time using the soy milk. But I think this is perfect for those with allergy issues. We love Pao De Queigo. A great family treat.

Brazilian Cheese Puffs (Pao de Queijo)

LOVE IT. You must used Tapioca starch. Anything else will not do this recipe justice. I love Pao De Queijo. If you are lucky you can find this prepackaged recipe in the supermarket. In the latin food section otherwise this recipe will make it pefect too. Obrigada. (Thank you in Portuguese)

Feijoada

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2010
Once you get past the tongue (scary for some cooks) you realize this is pretty good. If the tongue is too scary skip it and use sausage, ham hocks, bacon and pork. Then you can ignore the tongue and get to the joy of this dish. I did not use Jalapeno, tomato or the cayenne. I think this is more of a Cuban style black bean dish and I prefer the Brazilian style. I like the recipe that does not use beef or Jalapenos. It is always fun to try new recipes, I just had a hard time going from my fantasy Brazilian black bean to this style. I like this dish, I won't make it again because I love the pork style better.

Brazilian Style Flan (Pudim de Leite Condensado)

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2010
I LOVE THIS. But it is difficult to make for a new cook or an inexperienced kitchen diver. The carmel can burn and getting the right consistency is scary. But once you make this a few times (For me it was at least 5) you can feel the confidence and enjoy the perfect taste. A recipe that is brillant and beautiful. Obrigada!

Feijoada (Brazilian Black Bean Stew)

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2010
The key to making this dish perfect is using dry beans that have been soaked over night. I first made this with canned (Yes, I was lazy) but the canned beans do not give the dish that hearty Brazilian style. I also love the idea of smoked ham hocks which also add to the rich juicy flavor. I squeezed a lime into my version. I happen to like the zing of lime but my family did not. We all love this. Served over white rice. Obrigada.

German Sauerbraten

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2010
This is fantastic. I am not a talented cook but I think this is going to be a popular recipe in my home. I used a little less sugar 1/4 cup. The last thing I need is more sugar on my keister. I found some pickling spices and think this is what gives this recipe a kick. I also was able to cook this in less time by using my convection feature which may have added to the juicy taste. Thanks.

Chipas (Argentinean Cheese Bread)

I love these. Perfect. Thank you for this great recipe. They remind me of a Brazil style cheese bread. Super easy to make. Well, your fingers get a little sticky but that is worth it.

Tangy Pear and Blue Cheese Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2010
A super salad but I could not use the ketchup. I know, I need to let the concept of ketchup as a fast food treat go and use it as an ingredient. I also used red wine and balsamic vinegars along with EV olive oil.

Baked Chicken and Cheese Risotto

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2010
Excellent quick easy meal. Not really a risotto but this is a super easy rice casserole. I will make it again. I added garlic, onions, scallions and sea salt. It did not cook in 30 min. For some reason I needed and extra 15. It is not my oven as my oven is fantastic.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2009
WOW, this was wonderful. Thank you. Thank you. Everyone loved this Zesty slow cooked Chichen For once I was the one getting all the compliments. I used a citrus based barbeque sauce, added peppers, onions, celery, carrots, a 1/4 cup of lemon marmalade, and used boneless chicken. The chicken was fall apart tasty and the veggies kept their bright color. It not only looked great but tasted perfect. A sweet tangy style chicken. My husband wants me to make this again just for our family not a big pta event. : )
