Pork Chops Stuffed with Smoked Gouda and Bacon

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2004
Delicious! These chops were great cooked on the grill. I will broil them in the oven during cold weather.

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2004
This apple pie tasted fantastic and looked gorgeous. I added a teaspoon of cinnamon and vanilla to the apples. I mixed half the caramel sauce with the apples before putting them in the crust and poured the remaining sauce over my lattice crust. The apples remain pretty firm with the baking time, which was great for my family, but you may need to adjust if you like softer apples.

Bacon and Tomato Cups

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2004
This was a huge hit at a bridal shower. I doubled the recipe and filled 30 of the pre-made phyllo cups. I did cut the amount of mayo in half and thought it was perfect. I used fresh basil. Because I was making this for a bride who does not love onions in food, I just used a tablespoon of rehydrated dried chopped onions to give it a little onion flavor. I will be making this recipe on a regular basis!

Puttanesca I

Reviewed: May 28, 2004
This is the best pasta sauce I have ever made. I used anchovy paste because I had it on hand. I also used canned crushed tomatoes, which worked well. In addition, I threw in some extra olives, just because I love them so much, and I cut them in half to retain the wonderful texture.

Tapenade

Reviewed: May 28, 2004
This recipe makes a fantastic tapenade. I used anchovy paste and dried herbs because I already had them on hand. I'm sure fresh herbs make it even better. I served this with a crusty baguette and had leftovers to snack on for a few days. It was even good on saltine crackers and kept well in the refrigerator.

Ham with Redeye Gravy

Reviewed: May 28, 2004
This is a great recipe. I never knew exactly how to make this because noone in my family ever used a recipe and now they rarely cook country ham. I did not add any salt due to the country ham I had being particularly salty.

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2003
I am a huge fan of beer cheese and find this recipe to be quite satisfying. I usually add crushed red pepper flakes for extra heat.

Cheesy Baked Cauliflower

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2003
I followed another reviewer's advice and steamed the cauliflower for only 10-12 minutes so that it would have a firmer texture. I used dijon mustard and spread the mixture on with a pastry brush, which worked well. It made a nice presentation for an intimate Thanksgiving dinner.

Cornish Game Hens with Garlic and Rosemary

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2003
Fantastic recipe! I'm so glad I found this one. I made two hens for Thanksgiving for my fiancee and myself and it was perfect. I did not reduce the measurements for the liquids, so I would definitely double the amounts if making 4 hens. Otherwise, I followed the recipe exactly.

Balsamic Mushrooms

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2003
I was almost out of olive oil and used butter instead. If it weren't for the saturated fat, I would always use butter in this recipe. I also went a little easy on the balsamic because I didn't want it to be overpowering. Very nice recipe.

Easy Turkey Tetrazzini

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2003
This turned out well for me. I followed the advice of other reviewers and added half a cup of milk. Next time I will add an entire cup. I also used fresh mushrooms and sauteed those with half an onion. I also used Nature's Seasons and some extra pepper. Good comfort food.
