My Lillte Family
About this Cook
I've been cooking since high school for myself and friends, though I remember "helping" my mother cook at an early age. Since marrying in 2006 I have been full-time student and the main cook. In Christmas 2008 I received my favorite cooking partner, the Thermomix TM 31. Nowadays I'm a full-time mother of two, and still cooking and learning, and occasionally inventing. Spain has many delicious but unwritten recipes which I am endeavoring to master through observation and practice. And olive oil is just wonderful.
My favorite things to cook
Desserts, Cakes and Sweet Breads. Pizza, Calzone, whole wheat bread. Pisto (Ratatouille), Tomato Sauce, Bechamel, Chicken Pot Pie.
My cooking triumphs
I finally made a real Tortilla EspaƱola, and flipped it without it spilling all over the place!

Tasty Buns
awesome. Used a mixer to stir the dough both times, left it nice and tender, but well kneaded, without me getting sticky. It was hard enough just to get it out of the mixer! Mine ended up rising twice, as I put it under the bowl, then had to nurse my son. By the time I got back to it i was doubled in size, but I cut it up and made eight good sized hamburger buns and eight hot dog buns. It cooks fast, keep your eye on the oven! I'm so glad I found this recipe, super easy and taste the way rolls should. I think butter could make them a little bit better, next time

Simple Scones
Amazing, delicious, addictive, so many add-ins to try. First was cranberries with sliced almonds, not extract. I subbed 1/2 cup plain yogurt for the sour cream with success. Pulsing dry ingredients in food processor is so simple and effective, it should be part of the recipe. For me these need no frosting, no butter, just excellent by themselves.

Coconut Macaroons III
Never made macaroons at home, but these really were a sinch. I was only surprised by the amount, easily over 3 dozen... I guess that's 3 per serving. Anywho, they were a little on the salty side, so next time no salt will be added (I don't mind but hubby noticed) Also I used shaved cocnut, not flaked, as they don't commercialize it in Spain. Still turned out great. Thanks for a wonderfully easy recipe!
