Beef Pot Roast

After searing, I added 3 carrots chopped in big chunks and 4 potatoes cut in quarters and cooked in a crock pot on low for 10 hours. Wonderful!

Make Ahead French Toast

I added vanilla, Vietnamese cinnamon and a little sugar to the egg wash. Yummy! The moistness (some would say sogginess) of the bread worked well for a family member who has difficulty swallowing.

Turkey Soup with Root Vegetables

Turkey soup has always been a challenge for me. Mine always came out short on flavor. With this recipe, the homemade stock makes all the difference--well worth the effort. Although the only spices are salt and pepper, the combination of the roasted turkey flavor with the subtle nuance the root vegetables add is wonderful. This was a clear winner with my family too. The nutritional info has to be wrong, though. I can't see where 2,200+ calories per serving is right.

Greek Lemon Cake

I enjoyed this cake--added more lemon juice and zest for additional flavor. To those so critical of the reviewer who omitted the lemon zest, please read her profile. She is, at most, 17 years old. (Joined in 2005, profile says she's 12 years old--assuming profile hasn't been updated, photo certainly doesn't appear to be more than 17.) I think she is doing a great job of experimenting and putting herself out there.
