Bacon and Date Appetizer

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2011
Served christmas eve to our guests and I could tell people were trying not to eat them all up but really wanting more! Used dates from a bulk bin where we could easily slip a raw almond inside. Used turkey bacon because that's what we had on hand. Be careful - one of our dates still had a pit in it. Served with maple syrup dipping sauce that our guests loved! Great for people trying to eat paleo.

Best Spinach Dip Ever

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2011
Great recipe! Was able to easily adapt to fit our dairy-free, soy-free, gluten-free needs and serve to "regular" people without a problem. Used canola mayo & plain almond yogurt instead of sour cream & decreased both to 3/4 cup based on other reviews, thanks! In place of soup mix Used 2 garlic cloves, 1/4 minced onion and 1T seasoned salt. Served with Udi's bread and carrot sticks. Yum!

Savory Pork Roast

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2010
Was hoping this would be 5 stars, but it didn't work well for us. Followed recipe exactly as written. It was okay, but certainly not great. Flavor was bland. Improved over next day or two but still not going to be making it again.

Baked Kale Chips

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2010
Yum, yum and yum. What a great twist on an appetizer for guests or to offer around home. My husband and 4 year old LOVE them! Must make sure none of the chips are moist or your whole bowl will go limp as they sit together so I toss with tongs a couple times during cooking and increased cooking time as needed.

Cucumber Tomato Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2010
First time I made for guests and they seemed to like it, but the dressing was a bit overpowering where I had a hard time actually tasting the veggies. Made it again and same outcome. Our young son had a hard time with the smell and couldn't sit next to us so not sure I would try it on kids. However, would consider bringing it to an adult pot-luck. Will probably not make again for our family.

Honeyed Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2010
Made as written + pinch of cinnamon as recommended in other reviews. Great idea but was disappointed. Very little flavor. Tasted the dijon but that was about it. Rest of the chicken was really bland and had to push my 4 year old to eat it. Positive was it was very easy to make.

Barbecued Beef

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2010
This tasted fine and most people would probably really like, but you really have to like thick sauces covering your food. That's not really our thing so it was a bit too thick and sweet and essentially covered the flavor of the meal. My husband ate it, said it was good but didn't want me to make it again. My son ate some of it, but while protesting.

Sarah's Applesauce

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2010
We would give this more stars if possible. My son & husband love applesauce but they really LOVE this version!!! We try not to use sweeteners so left out the sugar all together - just apples, water & cinnamon. Took advice of another reviewer and dumped everything in crockpot and cooked for 2-3 hours. AMAZING!! They loved it hot, they loved it chilled. They even loved it when I thawed some frozen raspberries, mushed them and added into the applesauce. Next time I'll try tossing in a bag of frozen raspberries, blueberries or peaches in the crockpot as well for a flavored variety. Thanks for such a great recipe!!!

Roasted Mushroom Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2010
Looked beautiful on the plate and fairly easy to make, but didn't have much flavor. Would consider making again with addition of something that would give it a little more taste.

Cucumber-Avocado Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2010
Love avocados. Love cucumbers. Did not love this dressing. Too thick for a dressing and didn't like it as a dip. Too bad because the ingredients are all great and probably would have been a lot better just chunked together.

Lime Chicken Soft Tacos

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2010
My family LOVES these! I don't even like meat much but these are awesome. I put everything in the crockpot together for approx 5 hours and they are SO quick and easy to make this way. I took a recommendation from one of the other reviews to use cilantro (have tried dried & fresh - both were fine) instead of oregano and love it!

Pecan Pie Bars I

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
People LOVE LOVE LOVE these!!!!! I don't actually like pecans or pecan pie much so I don't eat them, but I ended up making them 3 times just over the holidays because people liked them so much. The general consensus is that they taste like pecan pie but better. People also liked the edge pieces that get a little crunchy. You could win a contest with these!!

Marinated Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
Made this for dinner one night. Although my 3 year old wouldn't eat it, my husband who doesn't like shrimp much, devoured it and requested that I add it to our regular recipe book. Definitely best right off the grill while hot. Would make again as appetizer.

Foolproof Rib Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
I made this for a pre-Christmas meal with a few family members because prime rib roast was on sale and they loved it!!! (I don't eat meat so have to go on their review). My husband ate all the leftovers the next day, my father-in-law said it was one of the best rib roasts he'd ever had and my 3 year old ate it up without fuss. It was very easy to make and I would definitely use this recipe again.

Curried Chicken Tea Sandwiches

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2009
Made this for a girls' bunco night and served with toast points. Everyone loved it! My hubby is a bit pickier and although he thought it was fine, he didn't rave quite as much. Thinking about making again today for a potluck.
