Pan-Seared Tilapia

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2014
Absolutely wonderful. Instead of just using melted butter and brushing over, I used browned butter, kicks it up a notch. There is nothing like browned butter on fish!

Shrimp Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2013
This was very good and makes a lot. I did put in more ketchup and more horseradish to give it more flavor. I've made it twice in as many weeks, people really like this. The second time, I also put in real crab meat. That really sends it over the top. Good spread. Thank you for sharing.

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2011
This is the 2nd year I have made this for Thanksgiving and will never make any other recipe. This is so easy and absolutely delicious. I only had 3 other people and there was none left. Plenty of other leftovers, no stuffing. Need I say more!!

Cheese food or processed cheese food is usually Velveeta Cheese, usually sold in block form 8oz. up to 32 oz. You may also use the jar, but it is much more expensive.

Broccoli Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2011
This is a great soup. I halved the recipe, but kept the broccoli and cheese the same, other than that followed it to the letter. Thickened up absolutely beautifully. I did find it a little bland, but salt and pepper did the trick. While I was enjoying this it kept popping in my mind that it was missing something and then it dawned on me. NUTMEG! I added 1/8 tsp. to the soup pan (NOT the bowl) and it was absolutely perfection. This really kicks it up to being fabulous. BTW, Panera Bread adds nutmeg to theirs, that's why it is so good.

Shannon's Smoky Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2011
I followed the recipe exactly. Nice spiciness, and I love smoked gouda, but this just didn't work for me at all. For some reason I think it was the swiss and also way too much gouda, they just fought each other, but, I thank you for the recipe. I think this was just a personal preference thing.

Triple Berry Crisp

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2011
Oh my, my, my!!! This is absolutely to die for, I'm in Hog Heaven. I only made a half recipe as that was all the berries I had, but used them generously. That sucker was gone within a few minutes. Everyone loved it and wanted more. Followed the recipe exactly for the half recipe. I would absolutely not change a thing. Why would you fix something if it wasn't broken. Absolutely DELICIOUS!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!! This deserves 10 stars.

Lemon Horseradish New Potatoes

Reviewed: May 16, 2011
I've made these twice now. I doubled the sauce with 2# of potatoes. I cut red potatoes depending on the size into quarters and sometimes 6ths. I parboiled them for about6-7 minutes and left them in the strainer to get nice and dry. I melt the butter in a saucepan (microwave would work fine) and then mixed in the horseradish, lemon juice and the other seasonings, then poured them over the potatoes in the tin foiled lined pan and mixed them gently. This made quite a bit of sauce for the potatoes. Put in in a 375 degree oven for approx. 30-35 minutes, gently stirring after 15-20 minutes. When they were done, they were lightly crisp and the horseradish and lemon were perfect. You could taste each individually. This is an absolutely outstanding recipe. The secret I found for me at least was doubling the sauce with 4 TBLS of the horseradish and the lemon. My company were just mad for these potatoes. I made Best Ever Brisket from this site to go along with them. My whole dinner was heavenly!! Thank you for sharing this recipe.

Hamburger Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2011
Marge I can't tell you how happy I am to find this recipe. I was making this over 35 years ago and unfortunately due to a flood lost the recipe several years ago. This past winter I was thinking about this soup and how much my family loved it, but for the life of me couldn't remember how to make it. Thought it was just passed down, and never thought to look for it on here and here it is!!! It is so quick and easy and absolutely delicious. I remember when I was first married and making this soup and money was tight. Well, it's tight again in these times and this is just perfect. Brought back a lot of very warm memories!! Thank you again.

Orange Glazed Carrots

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2011
Oh my goodness, was this fantastic. I can honestly say it was one of the best recipes I've made from here and such a simple one. I didn't have any orange juice, but I remembered I had some concentrated in a can in the freezer from another recipe. While the carrots were cooking I went ahead and scooped out about a forth of a cup, put that in a small bowl, added the brown sugar, salt and just about a TBLS of water, and about 1/2-1 tsp. of cornstarch and mixed it all up, blending well. I also remember another reviewer adding cinnamon, so add a very small amount about an 1/8 of a tsp. When the carrots were done steaming, took out the steamer basket and poured out the water, put the butter in and let it melt and poured in the orange juice/sugar mixture. Stirred well to blend and added the carrots. As it heated it thickened and produced the most magnificent glaze I have ever tasted. Every single carrot was just beautifully covered in this thick glaze. I will always use this recipe!! I think the concentrated oj made it a little more pronounced and loved it. Thank you so much for sharing this. Goes wonderful with pork chops or any main course for that matter.

Oriental Cold Noodle Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2011
Absolutely wonderful recipe. I will definitely make this all year. I did cut back on the red pepper flakes as that I don't like things too spicy and 1/2 tsp. was perfect for me. The only thing that I would have to be critical of and that is: what is this about cooking the noodles and then cutting them in 3" lengths?? Just break the suckers in half and cook them. Seemed like a totally waste of time step to do it that way. Anyway, Christiana thank you for sharing, great recipe!!!!

One Week – Six Dinners – Just $100

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2011
This is fantastic, thank you for this. Well I just have to chime in and Newlywedws is way out of line, I agree with FebruaryRN, my husband use to be in the Air Force and when he got out I was in sticker shock at the grocery story, it just bowled me over. I also could do a $100 with of grocery for half the price and then some. Now that I'm in the real world with what you have to pay for things, $100 a week for a family is not bad at all and very reasonable. Delicious menus that Allrecipes picked this week. Good job!!

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2011
This was fabulous!!! I made half the recipe and was very concerned after reading the reviews that it was too salty, as I really have to watch my salt intake; I did use the cream of chicken soup low sodium. I also took 10 oz. of baby portabella mushrooms and sauteed them with about a 1/3 cup chopped onion and mixed that with the soup/au jus mix. Absolutely wonderful. Tasted EXACTLY like golden mushroom soup, but only better. This is a terrific recipe and was not too salty at all with the above changes. Served over noodles along with some buttered peas on the side. Thank you Tesslynn for a wonderful recipe.

Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2010
I made this as an appetizer for Thanksgiving. . .I wish I had taken heed to the reviews, this is WAY-Y-Y-Y too MUCH SALT!!! They literally burned my tongue. I will make these again, using about 1/4 tsp. salt, and I may skip the vinegar and just go back to using worcheshire sauce instead. Sorry that I had to give this only 2 stars, but I thank you for the recipe, it's a very good starting point.

Creamy Cranberry Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2010
I made this last year for Thanksgiving and am certainly planning on making it again. It has such a beautiful presentation when served in a glass bowl so that you can see the layers. I followed the recipe exactly as written and would not change a thing. I did use only real whipping cream, a little work, but well worth it, for this beautiful salad I would not be using the frozen stuff. For the jello I use a cherry/black cherry fusion by Jello Brand, out of this world good. Thank you so much for sharing this. Even my picky friends who don't care for cranberries loves this!!

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2010
This chili is the BOMB!! I have got it in the slow cooker right now and can't keep my grubby little hands out of it. It is so-o-o-o-o good. The only thing that I added to it was 1/2 of a large green pepper as I love green pepper with my chili and I used a chopped onion, with a can of Ro-Tel's chopped tomatoes with chili peppers. I used Chili Seasoning II for the spices. This is definitely going to be a keeper. I will never ever struggle to make chili again hoping it will turn out. This is fantasic and a MUST TRY!! Thank you so much Deb for sharing this recipe.

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2010
I lost my beloved carrot cake recipe on a move and was crushed. One of my coworkers had his 50th birthday and on calling his wife I found out that his favorite cake was of course carrot cake. I thought "oh boy, I'm in trouble" I searched all over the site and read every carrot cake and review until I fell asleep at the computer. I decided on this one. I followed the recipe exactly, and it seemed everyone put pecans in theirs and this one had walnuts, which I think is much better. I was so right in choosing this recipe. It is wonderful. This is a very rich and full of wonderful goodness. You want a fluffy cake, go buy a bland cake mix. This is absolutely to die for and everyone raved about it at work. Even the CEO of the company came to my office and heard of the great cake and devoured it, told me I ought to sell it. Thank you so much for the recipe and yes, I did credit Sam for this recipe.
