Awesome Slow Cooker Buffalo Wings

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2014
Like others, I reduced the cooking time - one hour on high, one hour on low, and then baked off in the oven. Other than that, I followed the recipe exactly as written. I liked these wings; however, these never crisped up in the oven. Also, there is not really any way for the sauce to adhere to the wings. Next time, I might try broiling the wings at the end, to get a crispier exterior. They certainly don't need more "cook time" at that point, and a quick broil might serve that purpose.

Slow Cooker Boneless Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2013
How have I lived this long and never discovered the wonder of the slow cooker turkey breast?! I made it exactly as listed, halving the recipe for a four pound breast. Took five minutes to prepare with common ingredients everyone has on hand - result was moist and delicious.

Lemon Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2013
I followed the recipe, but also added the juice from the lemon I had zested, and a bit more milk (til I thought the consistency was right). I've decided they are more like "Lemon Scones" (rather than the typical muffin texture), which is also fine, but next time perhaps I will make them more like drop biscuits and add a bit more lemon zest and juice. They are perfect as Mini Scones!

Chocolate Cherry Cake II

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2012
This was delicious, and improved even more in the leftover version after being chilled for a day or two. The frosting really makes this! I forgot to add either vanilla or almond extract but it didn't seem to make a difference. I did add vanilla to the frosting, and could have eaten an entire pan of the frosting alone -- which was very similar to my grandmother's fudge. Took all of 10 minutes to throw together. This is a keeper!

Easy Batter Fruit Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2012
So easy! I doubled the recipe and made in a 9 x 13 pan. I used half brown sugar/half white and cut back slightly. Added a tsp of vanilla. Took all of five minutes to throw together! Will make this again.

Macaroni Ham Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2011
This is a good salad and the dill pickle adds a nice contrast. It seemed to be popular at a recent picnic potluck. Next time, though, I will double the mayo/mustard combination. I like my macaroni salad creamy and it was a bit dry using the amounts recommended in the recipe.

Judy's Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2010
Even my finicky nephew liked this salad! Utilized a couple of tips, and it turned out perfect: Sprayed pan prior to pretzel layer; Baked the pretzel layer for 10 min only; Doubled amt. of jello packets and water; Added 1/2 tsp of vanilla to cream cheese layer. Next time would try to slice strawberries first, or use pre-sliced. Will make again!

Patty's Mashed Turnips

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2010
These were quite tasty. Like other posters, I added butter as if making mashed potatoes, and ended up using just a "splurt" of half and half. Turnips, by nature, have a very high water content, and so I see why others felt they were runny. I mashed them in the pot, with the butter and tiny amount of cream, and then turned the burner back up to medium to reduce the excess liquid before serving. That worked out quite well!

Spaghetti Sauce with Ground Beef

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2010
I have made this sauce so many times in the last year after discovering it on this site. It is quick, easy, and freezes very well. I add a bit of sugar to cut the acidity. Also, sometimes I have made it without the peppers and have not noticed a discernible difference. I use half ground beef/half sweet Italian sausage, and also prefer to use whole tomatoes, which add more flavor, and break down nicely as the sauce simmers.
