About this Cook
I started cooking out of necessity. I couldn't have my new husband do all the work, and I had promised to pull my weight. My range of cooking experience was limited before I got married in July 2009; basically grilled cheese and toast. Now, I find I'm actually enjoying it!
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking anything with my husband. I love baking and trying out new dishes, and anything with peanut butter.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas cookie baking is always a big production in my family. I hope to carry on that tradition!
My cooking triumphs
Pot roast! Felt like Betty Crocker. Hosted a cookie decorating party last Christmas. I made a TON of ginger bread men and sugar cookies, and laid out all the frosting and candies for guests to use to decorate their own cookies. I make a wonderful beef and barley stew that get's better each time I make it. I love to tweak recipes until I get them just right.
My cooking tragedies
Once I tried to make chocolate fudge, and as I poured the mixture into a pan to harden, it hardened within seconds and formed a frozen chocolate waterfall. Also, I made cold peanut noodles for dinner one night. After my husband had a bite, he said "Gross, what is this? Peanut Butter Spaghetti?"

Buffalo Chicken Dip
This is now my favorite thing to bring to parties and I get lots of requests for it. I buy cooked chicken from the grocery store instead of canned chicken.

Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style
really easy to make and tastes great! used dried minced garlic since I didn't have time to raost garlic, but I will try it next time.

April's Roasted Red Pepper Cheese Ball
I actually didn't try this when I made it for a recent party. I was really busy getting everythig ready, but my guests loved it! Didn't roll it in anything and it actuallly looked pretty good since it had the pretty red specks of roasted red pepper. Thanks!
