Grad School student/researcher who found in cooking an amazing hobby. I would love to improve my skills and cook like a pro someday.
My favorite things to cook
Pastry/desserts, Brazilian food (and general ethnic food).
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family doesn't like to cook. I would say they do it because they need, so it's always the same, always the basics. I'm alone in the cooking project :)
My cooking triumphs
Carrot cake, brigadeiro (a popular Brazilian small dessert, usually considered a comfort food made by condensed milk and chocolate, Beef stroganoff (my grandma would be so proud if she was alive), Risotto (but I still think I can do better).
My cooking tragedies
Pancakes! It's absolutely frustrating. I've tried, like, five times to do it the American way, but I always feel the taste of the eggs and sometimes I feel it's to "heavy", like there's too much flour. :(
