I am married to a Swiss man and love European cusine. I am in my 40's and have 3 children (all boys), I love to stay in shape and enjoy life with family and friends. I am a uplifting, happy person. I live on a dairy farm. I love to travel and of course I LOVE to cook!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook chinese food and Swiss German recipies I learned from my Mother in law who immigrated from Switzerland about 20 yrs. ago. I occasionally enjoy making desserts but I rarely eat dessert, I usually fill up on the main course.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Since I married a Swiss man in 1993 I have adopted some European traditions in my home. I make fresh homemade bread every saturday called zopf (braided egg bread) for breakfast on Sunday mornings.
My cooking triumphs
I have had many. Many of which happened by surprise. I am a sucker for wanting to try new recipes when I am expecting guests...not the best time to try a NEW recipe.
My cooking tragedies
I invited my in-laws to my house for stuffed roasted chicken dinner just shortly after I wed. I cooked the stuffed chicken for the time specified for the size of bird but unfortunately the oven temp was not as hot as it should have been. Everyone was sitting ready to eat, the chicken looked great, nice and golden on the outside, crispy...but when I cut into it....yikes! The juices were still running RED, the chicken was tough (obviously not cooked enough)I felt like crawling into a hole. It was my first experience at cooking a stuffed chicken and I made sure that never happened again!

Turkey Wraps
I made these for a Birthday party and I cut them in 1" pieces for an appetizer. I had a few of my girlfriends ask for the recipe. They have since joined this website for more recipes and tips. I made them again for my kids lunchbox. They are picky eaters and my 16 yr. old LOVED them!!! I made them with low fat chive and onion cream cheese and low fat swiss cheese. I also added some finely chopped sweet onion as well for extra flavour. I loved the combination of the dijon mustard and cream cheese. Next time I may use turkey bacon instead of regular bacon to cut even more fat. I really liked the avacado and I am wondering if cucumber might be a nice addition as well....This has been added to my recipe box!!!
