Matar Pulao (Rice with Peas)

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2009
Very simple and very tasty. My family is Pakistani, and I think this recipe is quite close to authentic.

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: May 27, 2013
Use 4.25 pork shoulder instead of tenderloin. Used two and 1/3 12 oz cans of root beer. Added almost 1 bottle of Sweet Baby Ray's sweet and spicy BBQ sauce.

Crispy Oven-Roasted Rosemary Chicken with Sausage and Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
Very crispy and delicious. Watch the amount of oil you use (I used less than the recipe asked for) to keep it healthy. Instead of bratwurst links, I used sliced hot dogs. Goes well with zucchini risotto.

Crispy Rosemary Chicken and Fries

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2013
I made it without potatoes, so I halved the oil. Simple and delicious! I used garlic salt, instead of garlic powder+salt.

Rosemary Braised Lamb Shanks

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2012
Great recipe. Cook it for a long time (longer than the recipe recommends, like maybe 3 hours, so the meat starts to fall off the bone.) I tripled the amount of rosemary!

Butternut Squash Risotto

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
I used acorn squash instead of butternut and seasoned the squash with brown sugar and cinnamon. I omitted the wine (by accident). It's good, although not as flavorful as some other risottos I've had.

Very simple and delicious! I added garlic, like other reviewers suggested, and increased the flavor a bit. I squeezed part of a lemon on top afterwards.

Sugar Snap Peas

Nice healthy recipe. May be a good idea to increase the flavor and add a little more salt.

I added rosemary, thyme, and red pepper and served with baked asparagus. I used thigh fillets instead of breast. It was great!

Sweet Potato Pie I

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2009
Our guests loved it, I used this recipe exactly. I didn't have a mixer or blender or anything, so I made sure to get it as smooth as possible when mixing with a spatula. I followed the ingredients and the amounts exactly.

Broccoli with Garlic Butter and Cashews

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2009
After boiling the broccoli, I mixed the other ingredients in a bowl, added cornstarch to the bowl, put the broccoli in a skillet over medium high heat and added the sauce. I doubled the sauce, but unfortunately used too much butter.

Lemon Garlic Tilapia

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
I replaced the parsley with thyme (by accident) and it came out great. It was actually tastier with thyme than it was with parsley.

Sangria! Sangria!

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2013
I like it, but I tweaked it to reduce the bitter/sour flavor. I halved the limes and halved the number of lemon rounds. I omitted the frozen lemonade concentrate. I used the sugar. Prior to serving, I added a bit of orange soda, to taste. I kept a six pack of orange soda on hand all night. I used smoking loon cabernet sauvignon for the first batch. People really liked it and it was finished quickly. I refilled with trader joe's $2 charles shaw cab and the correct proportions of brandy and triple sec. I kept orange soda on hand and kept refilling. Watch out for the bitterness!

I improved the flavor, by increasing the quantity of the marinade and seasonings by 50%. I roasted instead of grilling.

Cranberry Pistachio Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2010
Excellent recipe! Make sure to keep wetting your hands with cold water when rolling out the logs, it does wonders. You don't need to use that many pistachios. Try to buy pistachios that have already been cracked, cracking them takes forever! Try to not buy salted pistachios ... if you do, then maybe omit the salt from the recipe.

Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2009
Very simple and very excellent. I used half brown sugar and half white sugar and cut the amount of orange juice used in half. I made sure to mash the berries with the back of a spatula as the sauce thickened and refrigerated overnight before using. The guests loved it!
