Meringue Crust

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2012
I loved the texture of this crust. A little cruchy, a little chewy. However, USE NON-STICK SPRAY. This does not come out of the pan easily.

Cajun Spice Mix

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2011
I love this spice mix. My dad is on a diet so we pretty much eliminated the salt from it but it's still great. I used italian seasoning instead of just oregano and thyme and did add the red pepper flakes. We used it every day. I have to make more because I miss having it around.

Detroit Hot Honey Wings

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2011
I loved this recipe as a base for really good hot wings. We doubled the recipe and did them in the oven. We seasoned with cajun seasoning (recipe from this site) and salt and pepper then cooked them for about half an hour before tossing them in the sauce. 2 cups honey was entirely too much (plus we didnt have it). We used 1/2 cup, I think. It added just a hint of sweetness that complimented the heat nicely. FYI: Be sure that you use good hot sauce. We only had some cheap, off brand stuff that wasn't so hot and the wings would've been beter if we'd used better, hotter sauce. Even so, these are the best wings I've had in years!!!

Mexican Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2011
When I told my family that I was making this recipe, they were not excited. We usually have boring pinto beans and smoked turkey, but this definitely wasn't that! They ended up loving it. I halfed the beans and used a can of diced tomatoes and chiles because that's all I had. I also add chili powder, sea salt, and taco seasoning. I still used a pound of bacon because the family kept asking "Are mexican beans ALL you're cooking?" "Is there going to be meat in it?" I wanted to make sure they'd see the meat and that it felt like a meal. I also added a few cloves chopped garlic in with the onions. I was worried that the bacon would go soggy, but after 3 hours of cooking the beans, by the time I added the bacon mixture, the beans were pretty much done, so that wasn't a problem. Even the one who hates beans in my family loved this. I crisped up some corn tortillas (we were out of tortilla chips) and served those on the side. Thanks for the recipe!

Glo's Sausage Fried Rice

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2011
I made this for Father's Day and the family loved it! It was a huge amount of rice and I found that we didn't have a skillet large enough for all of it. I was going to cut it in half, but boy am I glad I didn't! We ate it all. I ended up putting as much rice as the skillet could hold in and it still turned out fantastic. Thanks!
