About this Cook
I am a true Montana girl. I love the great outdoors-hiking, swimming, biking and horseback riding. But I also love to kick back with friends over some bison burgers and beer. I love my family, husband and two dogs Booker and Zuzu. The way I show love best is through food!
My favorite things to cook
Pies. The End. My mom and dad taught me my grandmothers recipes for pies and I've been baking them for parties, fairs and my dad's business functions ever since. In the fall I love creating new soup recipes to keep us warm over the miserable Mid Atlantic winters.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family has a tradition at Thanksgiving that most food should be made and ready to warm up the day before so that the oven is free for the turkey on "Turkey Day". So my sisters and I would usually spend all day the day before Thanksgiving making pumpkin pies, casserole potatoes and pumpkin cheesecakes.
My cooking triumphs
The first recipe I developed by myself is a Peach-Huckleberry pie with a crumb topping. I had never developed my own recipe before. I served it to my friends and they have been asking me to make it ever since!
My cooking tragedies
My husband's (then boyfriend) birthday...a day which shall live in infamy. I decided to be ambitious and make his favorite, orange chicken, a recipe which required a deep fryer (which I have never used) well as chocolate molten cakes for dessert. The deep fryer didn't work right so I did pan frying. The result: Burnt orange chicken. He was a good sport and he ended up helping me out. The dessert burned too because I under-estimated my oven's temp...not a good experience Hahaha!

How anybody can give this less than five stars is beyond me. It's amazing. JUST like my mom's almond roca only ten times easier! I'm sending this to a friend who has been overseas for a few months...a huge treat...have to keep the hubby away from it! Great recipe!

Quick Yeast Rolls
Oh. My. GOSH! These rolls were amazing!!!! SO easy too! A trick I used was rapid rise yeast (was in a pinch to make dinner) and they were ready to go in 30 minutes start-to-finish. Delicious. Hubby loved them! Will be making these for Thanksgiving for sure. Thanks for such a great recipe!
