Dirt Cake II

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2014
Awesome recipe! The one thing that seems to be giving people problems is that everything should be combined in stages. Mix together cream cheese and butter; then add-in powdered sugar, set aside. Then combine pudding and milk; be sure to beat thoroughly. I started out with 3 cups milk, but actually increased it to 3-1/2 c. milk. Once pudding has thickened, add cool whip. Lastly, beat in cream cheese mixture. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Assemble the next day. I made dirt cakes in plastic cups for my daughter's class and they were a HUGE hit. The taste is awesome and this is coming from someone who tends to prefer food made from scratch. :)

Babe Ruth Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2013
Great recipe. I tweaked it a bit per other reviewers advice. I only added 5 c. of cornflakes and used brown sugar for all of the sugar. I cooked the sugar, syrup and peanut butter mixture until it was all thoroughly combined. Mixed in the cornflakes and spread it into a pan that was lined with lightly grease aluminum foil. Once they were almost cooled, I cut them into squares. When they were cooled I dipped them into chocolate. Very yummy!

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2012
Pretty good recipe. I halved the recipe and used a couple of bone-in chicken breasts. I added half a chopped-up onion to the recipe as well. When I pulled out the chicken to shred it, I added a couple of tablespoons of flour to the liquid to help thicken it. The end result was pretty good. I think the only thing I'll change will be not adding the brown sugar next time since it was a little too sweet. I used Jack Daniels BBQ sauce, which is a little sweet so that's probably the reason it was a little sweeter than I'd like.

Peppermint Meringues

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2011
Awesome recipe! I took another person's advice and added a few drops of green food coloring as soon as soft peaks formed. After I got stiff peaks, I folded in some mini chocolate chips and peppermint extract. If you like mint chocolate chip ice cream, then you'll LOVE these. I left them in my oven for an hour to cool with the door closed because our house is cold. :)

McCormick® Gingerbread Men Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2011
This recipe was really great. I followed the directions for making the dough and decided to throw it in the freezer for a couple of hours. Pulled it out and let it sit for about 5 minutes before I started to roll it out. I lined my cookie sheets with parchment paper and didn't have any problem with them sticking. I only baked them 8 minutes and then let them sit on the cookie sheet on the rack for another 5 minutes after I removed them from the oven. The cookies turned out moist on the inside with a delicate crunch on the outside. The flavor was perfect. For those reviewers that don't like the rich flavor...make sure you like the taste of ginger before making these. Really yummy recipe!

Mall Pretzels

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2011
Awesome recipe! It was my first time making pretzels and I'm VERY pleased with how they turned out. I mixed them in a Kitchen Aid Mixer, let the dough rest until doubled in size. I then rolled them out, dipped in the water/soda solution and briefly put them on a paper towel before placing on a baking sheet. I sprinkled them the salt and let them rest while the oven heat. Thanks for sharing such an awesome recipe!

Chocolate Chip Orange Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2011
Great recipe. I followed some of the other reviewers and substituted 1 c. unsweetened apple sauce instead of the oil. I also had frozen some zucchini and summer squash, so I thawed them out in the microwave and squeezed out the excess water before adding to the recipe. I also added 1-1/2 c. mini chocolate chips, no walnuts and 2 tsp. orange extract instead of the vanilla extract. I didn't add any zest because I didn't have any, but the extract was a great substitute. I did muffins instead of bread and it made 3 dozen muffins. I baked the muffins for about 20 minutes. Thanks so much for an awesome recipe!

Chocolate Peppermint Candies

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2010
Great recipe! I took some of the other readers' suggestions and I didn't have ANY problems with these. I mixed the powdered sugar in with the dough hook of my mixer. Then I just took a small melon baller to do the balls. I rolled the balls in my hands, and then used the bottom of a glass to flatten them. If they started to stick to the glass, I just dipped it in powdered sugar. I only let the candies dry for 1 hour as the recipe indicates. I did put the sheet into the freezer and let them freeze for 10 to 20 minutes. Then I just dropped them into the melted chocolate, flipped them with my spoon and put them back on the wax paper to dry. Thanks for sharing this great recipe!

Italian Bread Using a Bread Machine

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2009
Excellent recipe. I actually made 5 small round loaves of bread and then hollowed each one out when they were cooked. Brushed inside of bread with olive oil and garlic mixture and cooked for another 15 minutes. I then used them as bread bowls for Potato Soup. Really easy recipe and everyone LOVED the bread bowls!
