Miso Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2010
We just got back form a vacation in Tokyo and have been craving real Miso Soup. This was the perfect recipe- eay and tasted just like what we got in Japan! I did use firm tofu and added a few strips of seaweed. The dashi is what makes this a traditional soup and can be found in any Japanese market in most big cities.

Chocolate Covered Peppermint Patties

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2010
Amazing! I froze them after mixing the minty filling and after dipping them in chocolate. I made 5 dozen of these and they were gone within a few days- everyone loved them! I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that you make them with mashed potatoes...

Nice yummy veggie lasagna recipe but I didn't feel there was enough veggies in it so I added spinach to the ricotta cheese

My cake turned out a little dry but this could have been a "baker error" :)

Happy Birthday Cake

I used this recipe each week while attending a cake decorating class and it turned out great each time. The secret is folding in those hard egg white before baking- I noticed a big change when I missed that step.

Wonderful! A nice change from the salmon with garlic/lemon/butter that is usually cooked here.

Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2010
We love these cabbage rolls although I did add some garlic, salt, pepper and a little Italian seasoning to the meat mixture. I had also gotten a late start cooking so I cooked these in an electric skillet at medium for about 3 1/2 hours and they turned out great!

Creamy Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2010
This was a very yummy chowder and my kids loved how sweet the corn made it. I did have to add actual cream though but it was only because I had doubled the recipe but had only gotten one pack of tofu. I also ended up adding an additional can of corn at the end so it wasn't just a liquid soup. It still turned out great!

Cottage Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2010
My family enjoyed this recipe and I enjoyed making it because of its simplicity. This was my first time using herbes de Provence and we thought it added a great taste to the dish. I would like to try this dish with fresh veggies and sauteed onions next time.
