So, Allrecipes is definitely my favourite food website in the whole world. And I mean that literally since I'm not American - I'm actually from a small country in Europe - Slovenia. Chances are you never heard of it, and that would not surprise me a bit, but perhaps you heard of Italy? Austria? Those two countries are the neighbouring countries of Slovenia - along with Croatia and Hungary.

There should be a picture here - about how the shape of Slovenia bears a strong resemblance of a chicken.... (for the life of me - I have no idea how to insert the picture here...). And the capital is smack dab in the middle of it. The capital is Ljubljana and that is my home town.

Anyway - I suppose chicken is food related, but I do not want to get to carried away in the geography lesson...

At the moment I still live with my parents, but am hoping to move soon in an appartment or a house I can share with my boyfriend. I cannot wait to get my hands on my very own real kitchen! For now, my cooking is mostly limited to baking sweets (see some examples below) on weekends and an occasional meal for the family. Recently me and my boyfriend bought an induction cooker (nothing too exciting there's only place on there for one pot), so now I'm actively seeking recipes that can be made using one pot, as it is very challeng to cook pasta half way - remove the pot, let sit in hot water as you cook the meat... And forget all side dishes as keeping two seperate components hot at the same time is a tough enough balancing act already.

I will be extremly gratefull for every suggestion you send my way!

I apologise for any spelling mistakes - English is not my first language...

Well you know if Italy can look like a boot, then anything is possible. I think the biscotti recipe is actually from this site, but I don't seem to have it in my recipe box... And I would love to have any recipes that are not soups, as I have quite a lot of those :)

Nice blog, keep up the good work. Never heard of Slovenia looking like a chicken but you're right so I learned something new. Will have to make the biscotti they look great. You'd never know that English is your second language you do a great job.

Great first blog, Auryn! You did very well with your spelling, so don't worry about that at all. I was able to click on the link and see the picture comparing Slovenia to the chicken...so funny! I wanted to ask (you don't have to answer if you don't feel comfortable, though)...is Auryn your real name or just a screen name? The reason I ask is because I simply LOVE the movie "The Neverending Story" and have wanted an Auryn symbol necklace ever since I first saw it. I've never found a necklace, but I'm still looking!

Well, The Neverending Story was one of my favorite movies as a child, so Auryn has been my screen name since then :) I have never seen that necklace either, but I'll keep my fingers crossed that you find it!

About Me
I'm a 23 year old postgraduate student of HRM, who just recently realised that preparing food is almost as fun as eating :)
My favorite things to cook
Cupcakes. And would you belive that in this day and age, people from a country in central Europe (Slovenia), do not know what a cupcake is?! They know muffins, sure, but give them a cupcake and educating has never been as sweet :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have fond memories of helping my mother bake crescent cookies around New Years.
My cooking triumphs
My cheescakes and cupcakes are famous (thank you allrecipeeps!)
My cooking tragedies
I am realtivelly new at cooking and baking, so I am very sceptical at the beginning of every new "project". They have a way of turning out okay though...
